We're pretty vulnerable in pass coverage. Two great DB's, but the rest are a work in progress at best.

I think the defense could have played better yesterday but the didn’t allow 40+ which is a good thing. The Db’s need to improve a lot if they want to compete in this game which I don’t know they can do.

I worry about Book. He can’t beat Bama’s Db’s down the field with his arm strength and accuracy. They will stack the box and completely shut the run game down. And you better find away for Lenzy/keys to be some what productive. They are the speed guys and they better step up. They won’t let Mayer beat them.

As much as we stunk last night and as much as it sucks getting waxed in big games (minus our win against Clemson during the season) our program is miles ahead of where a lot of other programs are.

As ugly as Ian Book plays he has the most wins of ANY quarterback at Notre Dame. As many ugly wins as Brian Kelly has....he is almost the all time winning coach at Notre Dame (pardon me if he has surpassed it already).

What the the HECK more do some of you want? lol

Want to go back to George O'Leary errrrrrr Tyrone Willingham/Bob Davie/Charlie Weiss years?

Ugh!!! I need a fat joint now.

The Irish have an above average DL. That's a start. Get creative with the pressure packages, tell the corners they're on their own, keep everything in front of you, and don't let Bama's OL get in the second level blocking for the run. Get a few timely turnovers, score TD's when you get in the red zone, and slow the game down on offense. It's a tall task but that's why you play them. Now, enough of the negative talk and tee it up.

That seems like a lot lol

Saban: we have 24 days to prepare for Clemson

Assistants: Sir, we are playing Notre Dame

Saban: I know......

Honestly, the best strategy would be practice a hurry up offense the next two weeks, and run it the whole game. It would most likely be a catastrophic failure, but its really all they can try.

Honestly? We want to go back to the Hoktz days where we could play with and beat anyone.

Are these Alabama and Clemson teams really any better than those Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma and Nebraska teams of the 1980's and 1990's?

People act like their hasn't been juggernaut teams before.

I think ND has to find a replacement for Crawford. I know he's a captain and he can still play packages, but having him out there all game is just asking for it. There will not be a WR on the field all night that he can run with.

I'm sure there's a reason he's back there but I'd rather go with an unknown in Houston Griffith or DJ Brown because we could play a near perfect game ane eventually Bama will get 2 TDs on Crawford alone. The mismatch will be found.

I would make it the most physical days of practice all year. I don’t see how else you could go about it. If guys get hurt or dinged up so be it. If you can’t tackle or tackle the way we have the last couple games you have no shot anyway

100% this. I feel like NDs bowl prep is kid gloves compared to other programs. They seem to always look like they havent done live drills for awhile.

Yup If I remember correctly they did very little hitting for NC game prep in 2012, mainly cuz if anyone got hurt the drop off from the starter to the backup was too big. Can’t prep like that

With all the kids having the option of coming back next year use this as prep for the 2021 season.

Yes and open tryouts for playmakers on offense. If a guy has the physical capability to break a long TD, then he should see playing time.

So, re-watching the Bama Florida game. Bama's O is a match up nightmare. They are extremely well balanced between the run and the pass. They have the players to go empty set 5 wide, two tight ends with a single back, you name it it looks like they can do it and they do it well. They even went Power I and did a fullback dive.

On the bright side you don’t have to deal with the QB run like you would playing Clemson. Jones can scramble but he is not a threat on the ground like Lawrence.

We'll at least ND doesn't have to prepare for the triple option. Haha.

Sounds good. We should start emulating that going forward.

I want us to triple team DeVonta Smith so that way I don't have to get a Bleacher Report push notification saying

"DeVonta Smith has 6 catches for 187 yards and 2 Touchdowns... and it's the 1st quarter "

The best thing is that at least we're not the night game. Only have to wait until 4 to watch this massacre

Outside of 1) a ton of luck, 2) a Covid outbreak, or 3) their QB getting knocked out, I don't realistically see a plausible way.

As all of know, shit happens.

Hoping shit happens.

Good call. “Hey kids, next year we could be back in the playoffs and maybe only lose by 30 points. Who is with me!?”

Book actually has to throw the ball, even in tight locations

Just tackle him every play and take the penalty. Lol.
