Thats not the reason why this is disappointing. That crew had a whole year to get that field ready for the game so it goes to show how nonexistent their work ethic is/was. Also, they just screwed over a whole bunch of guys that are busting their ass off trying to make the 53 man roster or make it on the practice squad.

Actually, they didn't have a whole year to get the field ready. There has been MAJOR work being done to the old Fawcett Stadium, to turn it into Tom Benson Stadium.

The game is meaningless, but the experience priceless for the fans who come from all over for the weekend. This year was even bigger too with Favre getting inducted AND the Packers playing. Cheesehead Nation was out in full force.

An hour or so before kickoff? You'd have to get a contract in place, get security set up, get concessions set up............... get locker rooms set up........... get TV set up............... not a chance in hell.

So the reason the paint was still wet was because Friday night there was a concert and the field was covered. Saturday night there was the speeches and the field was covered. The covering did not come off of the field till early Sunday morning, which led to the delay in painting the field.

The construction on the stadium did not begin until November '15 as two universities and a high school play in the stadium. Only 7% of the construction is done. They brought in a temporary field just for the week and were going to resume construction this week. In my opinion the major problem is they are trying to do too much too fast with adding a pretty major concert on Friday night.

So I watched the news and supposedly that is what they did. They decided to touch up the logo and endzones which made the paint like concrete.

Read a column by Gregg Doyel of the Indy Star that said the Colts and Packers were informed of the decision to not play at 6:30... the fans were not informed, and the scoreboard in the stadium counted down for the next hour and a half.

Some fans knew, but only because they were those checking Twitter/Facebook/ESPN via their phones. The NFL (HOF?) let everyone else spend their money on concessions and merch for over an hour, knowing there wouldn't be a game.

Borderline infuriating, but also not surprised even a little.

they also didnt want a mass exodus as they still planned to present this years HOF class to the crowd. not saying they shouldnt have informed everyone, but those HOF'ers looked forward to that im sure.

but overall, just a lot of ignorance on this one.
