Supposedly Petrino is close to out as Laville is worried that Brohm might not be available much longer

From what ive read doesnt look like they want to pay him $14 mil to fire him tho.cant ask Papa John for it anymore

Yes, his buyout is crazy and the contract is structured so the buyout goes up every year.

I have a feeling Brohm is going to stay in West Lafayette for a while.

There are rumors that Jerry Jones is just about done with Garrett and if he makes a change, it will be for a college coach or a young NFL assistant. I guess Lincoln Riley and David Shaw would be candidates

All the while, Jerry can't see that the real reason the Cowboys have been mediocre for quite a while is the owner/GM. Trading a 1st round pick for Cooper is a classic example.

It only takes one NFL team, like the Bengals.

The Bengals FO seem to love Marvin Lewis, or they would have canned him a long time ago. They are huge fans of making the playoffs then going home after the first round.

LOL.........I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. It sure isn't the mountains of southern Indiana, but it gets the point across.

Stewart Mandel addressed this in his mailbag this week on the Athletic. He said Brohm doesn’t have a top notch agent who’d push him to big time offers and coaching positions (that’s Brohms choice). He goes on to say that basically the only school he’d move on from Purdue would be Louisville. He doesn’t think they have the money to buy out petrino this year because of all the chaos that has happened at the school.

So Petrino getting a $14M paid vacation.
Wonder if they already have Brohm locked in verbally, or just done with Petrino and willing to search the unknown.

So where does Petrino end up next. BVG?

Saban could use Petrino lol....

You say that, but....

would anybody be surprised for some team, somewhere, to (erroneously) give Locksley another chance at a head job (or a raise and promotion as OC)....

and saban hire petrino as his next OC?

Say what you want, but saban has done well salvaging from the garbage heap with dudes like kiffin, sarkisian, locksley, jones, etc.

I wasn't kidding lol. laughing, but not kidding.

bet you Maryland wishes they would have kept Locksley..... Bama's O is setting records, so he gone... IIRC he was weighing heading to FSU. Maybe he'll get a chance as HC now.

Brohm to the Ville, Petrino to USC or FSU lol

I DO NOT want to see Petrino enter the Nick Saban Coaches Rehabilitation Program. The guy's an unlikeable, dishonest weasel. I hope we keep Locksley forever as OC. Very happy with the job he's doing. I hope even Saban knows better than to touch Bobby P with a ten foot pole.

You have to think he's going to get HC offers pretty soon.
Wonder if he would go home if Maryland came calling again.

Texas has mountains. It also has stars. That are big. And bright. .... Deep in the heart of Texas.

Brohm has a $5M buyout. Add that to the $14M buyout and the loss of pizza sponsorship may be too much to bite off. I still think he stays given the commitment Purdue has made to football.

What? A job where you're guaranteed that the owner gives you beyond the benefit of the doubt? The Bengals job is gonna be sought after due to the longevity in the job.

BK is set up for the next few seasons so I don't want him out. But if he wants out and John Harbaugh is available...

I've never understood the John Harbaugh fascination around here. Aside from taking a wild card to a Super Bowl. He's largely been a mediocre coach.

Not really sure what Locksley's prospects for a good job are. He was abysmal at New Mexico...and mired in controversy. Granted, he ended up being vindicated in some of those controversies, but not sure he could land another job above New Mexico-level. Not sure he'd leave for that.

Maryland seems like a natural fit, but they're coming off the firing of a controversial coach, so maybe they pass on Locksley?

I can't imagine Louisville has already come to a verbal agreement with Brohm mid season. Isn't that collusion? I don't think Brohm leaves this year, personally.

There's rules against collusion for coaches in college?

Evidently the breaking news of Petrino's firing took place during the airing of Petrino's Coaches Show.

I have no idea. It'd be pretty shitty if their wasn't. I can understand it happening during the time between the last game and the bowl game, but for it to happen in the middle of the regular season doesn't seem right.

We know that, but figured that y'all Bama fans put up with it because of the NC's he's won.
