I dislike PSU strictly because I dislike Franklin. Oh, and they enabled serial child rape and have fans that still refuse to own that fact.

Pretty much this. I don't like Franklin, think he's a clown and a mediocre coach at best. That's not why I hate Penn State though. I hate them for that other, more serious thing. JoePa is the biggest hypocrite in sports. Ever. Always preached doing the right thing no matter what. He knew what the sick bastard Sandusky was up to and he didn't do a thing about it because he didn't want to make himself or his program look bad.

Paterno was always a self-righteous, sanctimonious SOB who racked up a lot of wins against crappy teams. I derived great pleasure attending the 2006 Penn State ass-kicking in Paterno's last visit to ND stadium.

If you lived in Central, PA like I have all my life, you would know why.....as much as Ohio State fans are a pain, at least they have room to talk because they have been relevant. PSU hasnt been legit since roughly 10 years ago when they won the Orange Bowl. They actually think they are going to turn the corner soon when they won 7 games against an atrocious non conference schedule (some of those games were very close) and got there dicks kicked in against any decent big ten team.

Agreed. It's also looking like Franklin isn't as shitty as a coach as page one of this thread made him out to be. Last 2 years.... 22-5 (4 out of the 5 losses were by 3 pts or less) with 2 top ten finishes and a major bowl win. SMH

I hate that fucking guy. He’s a douche of the highest order. But I’d put him in my top-5 in replacing Brian Kelly.

He recruits his balls off, he knows how to hire coordinators, and the donors would love him and that smarmy, douchey, salesman-like personality.

I'd take him too, but lets see if the machine keeps running after McSorley and Barkley. The Charlie Weis era was off to a great start too with BQ, Shark and Walker. I think it will though, Penn St. seems to have their guy and I think they will be tough for years.

I need to see it this year before I start believing in Franklin. A player like Barkley, Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Cam Newton....they really make a coach look good and they stress a defense so much, it often forces the defense to abandon it's game plan early on.

I still think he's smarmy, but I'll begrudgingly admit I was wrong if that turns out to be the case.

ND needs to continue watching Bill O'Brien, because if he doesn't last in Houston, he'd be a great hire when the Kelly era is over, whenever that may be (2-7 years is probably a safe bet)

Can’t stand the guy, has that sleazy politician salesman thing going. But I think he’s a decent coach. Losing Barkley and the OC will make things harder this year. On Hackenberg, the NY media has been astounded at how bad a football player he is the last couple of years. Physically gifted, but not able to read defenses at all.
