The thread should just be re-named "What was your reaction when you heard Golson has prepared the right way and seems to have "it"..."

I mean, my initial thought when I heard about Tommy's suspension was "Wow, Golson really is going to get the nod.."

I think people's reactions are more about the potential of Golson and not Tommy's downfall... Poor thread title.

Also, I respect Tommy but it's not like his life is over. I don't feel that bad for him. He was given a free ride to the University of Notre Dame and an honest shot at leading the most prestigious football team in the country... and he ****ed it up.

He is still enrolled in classes, he is still on the roster and will only miss ONE game. I respect him but I don't feel too bad for him.

Agreed.

Now can you please shrink your sig pic to, oh, I don't know, maybe a tenth the size it is? Thanks.

Alright, this was in poor taste so mods feel free to delete, and I apologize to anyone who took this the wrong way. But I didn't mean it in the sense that I am happy Rees got suspended. It was more happy because now I know that means no matter what, Golson(most likely) or Hendrix will be the man and I do not have confidence in Kelly to pick anyone but Tommy.

But come on to whoever said I would be celebrating if Rees broke his leg? Thats not Rees's fault. This was 100% his fault

That was me, but I still fail to see the significance of your distinction between something being his fault and something not being his fault if the only thing you're celebrating is "now [you] know that means no matter what, Golson (most likely) or Hendrix will be the man and [you] do not have confidence in Kelly to pick anyone but Tommy." The sole reason that Kelly's decision was made for him was because Tommy is suspended.

I was only trying to illustrate the folly in trying to distinguish the cause from the outcome in order to celebrate the outcome. Would it be different if the broken leg was indeed Tommy's fault? If he were engaging in risky behavior? In that case, would it then be okay to celebrate Kelly's inability to select him as a starter?

At this point, you've already admitted that the thread was in poor taste. I appreciate that and don't have a bone to pick with you but I felt compelled to defend my statement since you took exception to it.

I am excited to see Golson/ Hendrix get a shot. I don't think anyone here intended on celebrating the anguish of any Irish player. I also refuse to feel sorry for anyone who violated team rules and is held accountable.

This was my first reaction. Not because of the punishment Tommy & Carlo were given, but because it meant Golson or Hendrix would start and get a chance. (Not a Tommy fan, but that does not mean I wish him ill).

After I thought about it a little longer this was my feelings about Tommy & Carlo's loss due to their own poor choices.

Then I went back to this simply because I personally could not endure another season like last year if Tommy was at the helm again. 8-5 is OK, I just don't want another 8-5 like last year.

I don't think we need to be celebrating this news. I'm still excited to see what our other QBs can do, but I'm going to support whoever is under center regardless, and I expect that BK will continue to put the best man on the field.
