Doubt it. He's already been demoted behind the scenes, I can't fathom a scenario where he's kept except in a "Co-OC" role.
Maybe this explains Freeman’s low energy press conference (according to some here). Might’ve had to tell his longtime friend he was demoted.

Marcus Freeman has the potential to be a great head coach some day because I think he's really smart and introspective, which helps him identify and learn from his mistakes. That's what makes me optimistic that Parker will not be the OC in 2024.

The big question with Freeman- will he have enough time to learn from his mistakes before he gets fired at ND?

I dont see him getting fired if he is consistently right around 10 wins while he grows, even if it is not ultimately what everyone is wanting to see.

Curious why you think or what he’s shown to make you think he’s really smart? He absolutely explains NOTHING about football in any PC. Instead, he cautious shoes a huge lack of knowledge.

With that said, I think he can be a very good head coach despite his lack of knowledge due to relentless effort to be better and recruit, plus I believe he can check his ego allowing coordinators to do their job. Just needs really good ones.

I'm fine with 10-win seasons, but if the defense takes a step back and the offense doesn't get much better, we could lose 3-4 games again next year against a relatively weak schedule. Especially if we keep losing to teams we shouldn't lose to. Things could spiral quickly from there and he could be out of a job in 2-3 years

100p

I'm a huge fan. But if he loses one more game this season (Including the bowl game) his seat is officially warm.

He's absolutely going to be a great HC and will have massive success. I hope it's here.

Keep in mind some of those scores were short fields too because of Watts interceptions or special teams wins. Parker produced only 5 TDs from OSU-Duke-Louisville. For all the points we scored against USC's awful defense, whose DC just got fired, only 2 scores came on drives that began on our side of the field.

when asked about giving Audric only three touches in the second half

"we wanted to keep ourselves in position to be able to run, set up our run play actions, and play in front, and we lost that early in the football game"

What a crock of shit. we didnt lose that until late in the game and we never play actioned in the beginning of the game when we were able to run the football.

I think MF will be a great coach too. Just needs to land a big time OC, even Saban who is considered the greatest college coach of all time had: McElwain, Nussmeier, Kiffin, Daboll, Locksley, Sarkisian and O'Brien. All seasoned vets before joining his staff. First year HC with a first year OC.....SMH....Come on ND

Here is the full quote. Doesn’t sound much better.

So, there’s no eye conflict. If I’m guarding [The Athletic Notre Dame beat writer] Pete [Sampson], I’m guarding Pete. So, what’s happening in action throws? [Sampson: ‘They don’t care.’] Exactly. So, we lost that some.”

Imagine being Sam Hartman and you get these gems in meeting rooms.

Somebody like a Chip Kelly is a prime example of a Saban hire. Bring him to SB for 2 maybe 3 years. Let him do his thing, wash rinse and repeat. It's worked for Bama, and if we think for a minute CK wouldn't ball out compared to what we are use too....Then we deserve this misery we deal with from ND football.

It's possible that silently demoting Parker is the best way to go here. Maybe he is doing his best to try to bring Parker back as TE coach, or at the very least allowing Parker to save face.

Saving face is reserved for people like Bill Belichick, who will inevitably be forced to “retire” at some point behind the scenes.

Porker has earned no such courtesy. He fell on his face first rodeo, and MF should be upset his buddy stained the season so badly, and outright can him. He warrants no special courtesy. He added nothing of value during his tenure.

If this was feudal Japan, there would be another method utilized to save face. (Yes, that’s an extreme example, but you get it, firing a guy for failing is not being mean, it’s being real, and accepted as the norm).

THIS RIGHT HERE SHOULD ELIMINATE ANY POSTER EVER SAYING "So you think you know more than the coach, why don't you go interview and coach for ND then!?!?!"

Our OC is not only Dumb on game days, he's dumb in his game plan and prep, and then he triples/quadruples down on PCs making him look even more of an offensive idiot (didn't think it was possible).

If you're gonna keep Porker on staff as TE coach, which coach are you getting rid of? Need to make room to bring in a OC.
You first identify the RIGHT OC, then you figure out the rest of your staff. Most likely Gino is odd man out if you keep oink oink.
