Here is the full quote. Doesn’t sound much better.

Imagine being Sam Hartman and you get these gems in meeting rooms.

Agree, but I am wondering if Sam see's this and knows what or how to change to the correct play. I was/am a big Sam Hartman guy, he was my #1 by a large margin, but he came from the slow mesh offense and didn't really have to read coverages at the line, it was snap the ball, make one read and go. I honestly don't think he can read a defense.

Sam had to learn what PA is from parker, let that sink in. Partially joking.

He only used slow mesh at Wake

Is that really true???

had plenty of other better options even after the Ludwig debacle.. He chose Gerad.....

According to Blue & Gold Illustrated, his options were (1) Ludwig and (2) Collin Klein. For whatever reason, those two options didn't work; thus, one would presume he never wanted GP as the OC in the first place. Kinda like at the end of the night/last call and you've whiffed on all your top choices and you're merely left with the heifer in the corner pounding cheese fries .... you don't really want it, but it's there.

I don't understand the point of having a team with (supposedly) strong TE's and a strong run game if you don't do things to let one help create opportunities for the other.

IDK if they just don't trust any of them outside of Evans, but this is weird/frustrating.

The thing he clearly isn't considering in this is DL also get impacted on the run fake. It's one thing to think I have to maintain some sort of run gap responsibility for even a second or two vs pinning my ears back and hitting the OL with a pass rush move. This can result in more time to see the field give that wr a moment to separate etc.

This is total speculation on my part but it seems the wildcard in last offseason's search was Sam Hartman.

Alabama was coming after him and ND may have felt extreme time pressure to 1) hire an OC and 2) hire an OC who would fulfill the selling points that got Hartman to choose ND when Rees was OC.

These factors aren't going to be present this offseason. So let's see how ND proceeds.

Also... The guys at 247 II were adamant for weeks at the beginning of the search that it wouldn't be Parker. Luke reiterated multiple times adamant.

Then the other options fell through and it was all of a sudden, uh oh, it's Parker.

Yeah, there's no two ways of slicing it. It was a painfully ignorant statement.

This assumes he has the option/responsibility to do so.

Also, keep in mind that the slow mesh is a constant read. It's a read whether to run or pass on every play. That is a version of play action. Zone/read, slow mesh, etc are all versions of play action. I would prefer they run more traditional play action from under center with Hartman. But, you can run play action out of pistol.

The more I read, the quicker my feelings are evolving from empathy for a guy who would have been a fool for turning down an opportunity to disdain for a fool who absolutely annihilated an opportunity.

What is parker trying to do with the offense this year from ohio state on vs any descent defense? If he believes you can't PA vs a team in man. What the heck is his game plan.

Is it literally run the ball with all sorts of different blocking formations, and pass only when we have to, or only if the other team really really really never would expect it?

I wouldn't keep Parker personally. I know it's ND and we're #TEU, but I'd get rid of him and I'd split TE coaching. Either have them go with Stuckey and/or Rudolph, or just have Stuckey be the official TE coach because WRs have to block too. I wouldn't get rid of Gino, not yet anyway. Lets see how QB development goes with Minchey next year. If our guys aren't ready, maybe bring in someone new so Carr doesn't get wasted.

Why empathy? I would bet quite a bit that when TR left GP probably applied/put his name out there for the job.

I’d let Parker go to TE coach, hire the next OC who is a qb coach too. Let Gino go. If Parker can’t handle the demotion find a new TE coach. Bring in a WR coach “analyst”
That's the last thing I would do. I'm not sold on Stuckey yet, but given our WR room the last several years we absolutely need a dedicated WR coach. TE is an area where we can skimp, we'll continue bringing in talent there and we don't need a dedicated TE coach when they can be coached with receivers. Jury is still out on Gino, but in the same vein as WR we need a dedicated QB coach.

I think Parker and Freeman have the same Speaking/PR consultant coaching them. They speak so mater of fact, confident, like they know exactly what's going on and have the right play/plan, will fix issues, will have this team running through a wall and play phenomenally. They clearly are coached on how to speak infront of media (rightfully so). But if you actually listen or read the words they say, there's nothing there, and they actually might be stupid. They never identify what the issue is or give you any glimpse on how it's going to get fixed. Instead you hear excuses, and looking over there to fix something when right here is the issue. If you watch this team play, they don't play with a ton of energy, and at times they don't have a clue what they're doing. Defense is better but they're all seniors or 5th year seniors other than BenMo. The defense struggles to tackle, that hurt us significantly in our 3 losses.

Gosh i'm not confident in this staff. No clue how anyone could be.

Yeah after Hartman was wasted I want no part of Gino.

Most good OC’s are the qb coach too
vs nc state i didn't think much of it because we won but when the offense was on the sideline as a large group during tv timeouts or other

Gino was over somewhere outside huddle, sam was over somewhere else, and the rest of the offense was huddled with stuckey and Deland.

Weird

I am reading his post as keep Stuckey and add a second WR coach/analyst:

Staff would be:
OC/QB Coach: ?
TE: Coach: Parker
WR Coach 1: Stuckey
WR Coach 2:?

In theory, Play Action works better against zone than man. However, DBs and LBs can be idiots and still get sucked up. Happened to my team last week in the championship!
