Oh yeah, for sure. I don't want him to get the position. But, if he's already been more involved than I am not going to expect things to improve drastically over the next two games if he's given more authority.
And you shouldn't. At this point in the season, you're typically only incorporating one or two new plays per week, so to expect much of a change in the offense (spread formation, play action, etc.) isn't going to happen.

Chip Lindsey, North Carolina
Ryan Grubb, Washington
Joe Moorhead, Akron HC
Andy Kotelnicki, Kansas
Brian Lindgren, Oregon State

I'd say these five for me, in no particular order. They're all Power Five guys. Grubb getting to have a defense would surely delight him.

I would have to brainstorm as to who might be an NFL Al Golden type of hire at OC they could potentially make.
Would be stoked with any of these as ND's next OC.

Coach DeBoer has players crying and hugging him after the games and those are big wins! Seems like he's building something special there and he has a strong group of players to work with this year. I hope they do good things in the CFP this year.

Not to plie on or whatever, but some of this has to be on Hartman as well right? No way they said to a 37year old QB with 2K starts, "walk up to the line and run the play" I don't care if they are running cover zero, with 11 in the box. RTDB"

Is it possible, he isn't who we thought?

I’d say there’s a 90% chance the failed offense is due to terrible receivers, awful OL minus Alt, and an OC who has no idea what’s going on.

Hartman hasn’t gotten any help.

I don’t think saying no to Saban and Bama necessarily means a candidate would say no to ND. There are a lot of differences between the schools.
Also, was Joe Moorhead a lifelong Irish fan as stated above?

For Grubb, he has a long term relationship with DeBoer and he's going to be getting P5 offers this offseason. He's not coming here.

Won’t happen but since we’re having a little fun..Darrell Bevell. Currently QB coach for Miami. Long time OC and has spent the last two years in Mike McDaniels system.

Oooo. Like it. I’d rather have Jim Bob Cooter but he’s close. He played with Rudolph.

The staff just needs to put the time and effort into finding a good, experienced OC and the right fit. Don't take f-ing shortcuts. They don't do that with recruiting, do they? WTF, do they appear to be doing it for key hires that as they can see really affect the trajectory of the program. Why does the powers that be suddenly become so dang lazy when it comes to recruiting? Do their job, spend the time, and make a quality hire - Geez!

Saban took months an kept going doing his list until it was almost the NFL Draft until he found his guy - He put the work in.

FWIW..Bill O'Brien left Bama 1/23/23....Rees was hired 2/3/23
Ok, well it seemed like a long time and so late in the season when Rees left, but yes, I guess with NFL hires going into late January it was a very late college season departure and hire. Still, put in the work and figure it out. Saban at least went out down a long list (since he got a lot no thank you's) until he got his man. MF gave up after 2 targets didn't work out and hired his buddy.

I think I owe Rees an apology... he's apparently a lot better at the developing/play calling stuff then I thought. Maybe still sucked at recruiting, but his loss as both an OC and QB coach is pretty evident right now.
I do think he was underrated as a play caller and developer; however, the split had to happen - for his sake and probably for Freeman's. It was a failed arranged marriage. What didn't have to happen was a detrimental hire. Yet here we are.
