Of course perpetual ND-hater (right up there with Cam Newton) is hating on ("selling" ND), but he is specific that he's selling ND on being in the CFP Championship game, not that the team won't be good and in the CFP field.
Also, with all the teams chickening out these days to play tough OOC games, and with B1G and SEC having such large conferences, you get plenty of perennial CFP contenders / top teams likely to have a so so schedule, as we called out last year.
Now, D-bag Danny does have a point that the team better not let the prevailing sentiment by a lot of prognosticators that ND will either be in the championship game or actually win it get into their heads this season; and actually, BYU, SMU, and Miami pretty late in the season (11/7) kind of doesn't solidly support his hypothesis IMO.
And 'bama had a tough schedule during the season and still tanked in the playoffs, so the part about being battle tested doesn't mean shit. The CFP (especially if it expands to a 16- or even a 24- team field) actually represents a 2nd season and a 2nd life where a team with 2 losses, even close to the end of the season, could, with a few weeks rest and being on a roll in the CFP, like OSU in 2024, could win it all.
Bud Elliott makes a good point about our set of WRs and is there even one of them who can be THE guy who becomes Carr's go to, bail-out receiver, who strikes fear in the opponent. Hopefully 1-2 such receivers will emerge during the season.
But this just amounts to Danny trying to get clicks and his perennial ND hating.
