Not sure where to put this, but I'm curious if anyone knows, how much, if any, AI is being used by ND during games? Or, is that even legal?

I know they have their analytics guy next to Marcus and he's making recommendations on going for it on 4th down, fields goals, punting, going for two, etc. But that's not really AI.

For instance, when Prime broadcasts NFL games, they have a feed that is AI and can tell you based on formation, down and distance, tendencies, alignments, score, etc if a defensive player is going to blitz in real time. From what I watched, it was pretty dang accurate.

Obviously that info can't be communicated in real time as it's only a few seconds before the snap and the headsets are cut off to the players. But, can they use it (since video is allowed) on sideline films reviews during the game?

Just curious.
Excellent question. I hope someone can answer it.

Interesting question but I would note a slight clarification that a TV product is slightly delayed, not real-time

Yes, but generally only 5-10 seconds typically. Which i understand is an eternity for AI, but I think the point still stands.

I figure just about everyone is tapping into AI right now. My guess is there really aren’t any clear legal guardrails yet, it’s still the Wild West. The catch is, it’s not perfect. It makes mistakes. But used the right way, it can definitely be a powerful tool.
I think the real advantage will go to the people who figure out how to bend AI to their advantage. And you can bet there are already coaches out there doing exactly that.

Unless something has changed in the past year or two, I think this was explicitly forbidden by the NCAA. It came up during the Michigan cheating scandal as one of the rumors

Not a logo I would buy apparel for, but since they aren't getting rid of the original, I'm not mad they came up with sport specific versions.

New alt logo is fun!

Nothing will ever beat the OG

But, why the hell not give each sport a fun secondary logo for more merch opportunities?

Have to be honest about this…

I was really not expecting this news to bring out the bedwetters
One person, yes one person posted they hated it and you respond with your tiresome bedwetting schtick.

I personally like this new alternate leprechaun, but to say those that don’t like it aren’t entitled to their opinion is just you being a prick.

The sun coming up each morning, 08 talking DT’s, Irishu with a bedwetting comment. Things I can always count on.

Feels like an alternate hat sort of thing.

Honestly the main thing I dislike about it is that I think the lines of the drawing are a bit too big and modern looking and the green eyes are a weird choice considering the leprechaun doesnt have green eyes. Those will probably be messed with over the years so I think it has a good shot to get better.

A few of these are wild. Hinish, Rubio, and Faison in the 5th? Stroman and Onye in the 6th? Raridon in the 2nd? ND’s back up running back with an Achilles injury history in the 3rd?

Probably the biggest lol is calling Carr the biggest ? but some of the others he listed aren’t.

I hope he’s right! We’re gonna win a natty if he is

Yeah some of his projections are wild.
Raridon? Does he have another year left I can see him being a 5-6 rounder depends how this season goes.
Hinish maybe a 6-7 rounder.
I can see Onye going 4-5 round
Faison he will be back next year but he’s a late round guy too

I was listening to the Andy and Ari on3 show, and Ari said an NFL scout that has been all around the country at fall camps told him that Notre Dame has far and away the most impressive roster of every place he has been. My own note: not sure all the places he has been.

They all have the potential to, and obviously we are significantly closer in this regard than in past years, but it’s incredibly unlikely that they all get drafted. UGA set records for number of draft picks they had in 2021 and they still had two starters not get drafted
