Yeah, five is fine.ND at 5 with a QB who (1) hasn’t been decided and (2) has never seen any game action is a pretty massive compliment to the state of the program imo.
They really do bring back a lot of talent. A QB that many NFL scouts think is a round 1/2 guy and definitively a top 2 RB group in the country helps you out.Yeah, five is fine.
Mostly I remain mystified as to the Penn State hype. 14 voters think they are the best team in the country?
They were the national champion favorites (+550) just a couple weeks ago before the whales hammered OSU and Texas sending PSU to around +750. I don't know how you can bet on Franklin or Allar at this point but they do have the horses to contend I think.Yeah, five is fine.

PSU at 3????????
Sure, they'll contend. Looking at their soft-ass schedule it'd be a surprise if they finish worse than 10-2, so likely they make the playoffs, at which point anything can happen. I just don't know why people think this is the year they finally start to beat good teams - which you must do at some point if you hope to advance in the playoffs. They were the national champion favorites (+550) just a couple weeks ago before the whales hammered OSU and Texas sending PSU to around +750. This and and where they finished last year are why they are ranked where they are IMO.They really do bring back a lot of talent. A QB that many NFL scouts think is a round 1/2 guy and definitively a top 2 RB group in the country helps you out.
and some serious, serious production at WR through the portal, and added Knowles as DC. I'm by no means scared of running into them in the playoffs but they will be formidable this szn. They really do bring back a lot of talent. Way back in...... 2022 at Ohio State. Easy to forget we were at top 10 team preseason thoughWhen's the last time ND was involved in a top 10 matchup week 1?
yup.....yep...Way back in...... 2022 at Ohio State. Easy to forget we were at top 10 team preseason though
Did you leave out fUSC on purpose? right behind Louisville at 116 votes, so "ranked" 29th.Miami #10
Texas A&M #21
Boise State #25

Louisville
Syracuse
Navy
Arkansas
I realize Penn State won 13 games and very nearly beat us, but the best team they actually defeated last year was, who... Boise? SMU?This and and where they finished last year are why they are ranked where they are.
I was on deployment for the '22 season, but we were in port for the Ohio State and Clemson games, both of which I watched alone in a hotel room until 3 am, finishing a fifth of Glenfiddich myself (for different reasons each game)yup.....yep...

I'll admit the PSU game was a toss up and either team was good enough to be the best team on the field that day. But they lost some elite talent and we did beat them.
Before ND had a single draft pick, PSU lost Carter (#3 overall), Tyler Warren (#14) , Kevin Winston (#82).
I get their RBs are back, but neither of them would start over our J Love.

For your information I was not hot racking, and I had several happy socks to my name for myselfHot bunking and using someone else's happy sock would do that to anyone.

This is the most critical part. Who disrupted our game plan that night? Those two. And you don't often develop top 15 TEs/DEs. Plus, I've never seen a Franklin team meet/exceed expectations. Let them have the lofty rankings, it's the steel noose that'll drag them to the bottom.I realize Penn State won 13 games and very nearly beat us, but the best team they actually defeated last year was, who... They lucked into a high seed, and then drew probably the easiest road to the semifinals. Yes they added some nice transfers but also lost their two clearly-best players in Carter and Warren. Allar's a fine QB. They play creampuffs out of conference and most of their tougher Big Ten games are at home. I'd bet they make the playoffs. I just don't see them beating three straight top 10 teams once they're in there. Because they never have. But I guess there's a first time for everything.
