Anything less than a playoff spot, and either a win or quality loss there, and I'll be disappointed.

Burnt Ends Brian got the team "on the verge" of the playoffs every single year from 2015 on (minus the disaster of 2016).

If MF steps into a really good program, loses to Stanford, Marshall, and get's beat down by sc in year 1, then, with the best QB since Jimmy Pickles and a great offense, proceeds to lose 2 of 3 against Clemson, osu, and, sc, and/or drops a game to Louisville or Pitt or somebody like that, then I don't think MF is who we hoped he would be.

1 of 3 was last year. This year there needs to be improvement. 2/3 or bust.
Is 1 of 3 without a wtf loss not an improvement? 11-1 is my target and with Hartman it's playoffs or bust but ten regular season wins would still be an improvement, at least in the eyes of most around the country.

My expectation is that ND wins all their "other" games plus 1 of those 3. For 10 wins. I think 11 wins is a overachieving and 9 wins is under. Also, I don't see anyway that OSU is the #3 team in the country to start next season. Breaking in a new QB on the road. That should be an opportunity to steal one for Notre Dame.
I would agree with this if our new QB were "breaking in" wasn't a seasoned veteran with a litany of experience playing against Clemson.

I was talking about OSU with, likely, Kyle McCord. I don’t think he’ll start the year playing well enough for them to merit being #3 in the country. Hopefully it stays that way when they come to South Bend.

We are so overdue for a win against the Buckeyes. This would be a great season to end that streak.

Buckeyes opened as 8.5 point favorites for the game. I think USC is a 3 point favorite as well. Haven't seen anything on the Clemson game but ND should be favored in all others. Vegas has the win total for ND set at 9

Clemson is going to be much better on the offensive side of the ball. I know we have a ton o experience coming back in the defense but we saw what Riley did in one year at TCU.

ND could go 0-3 or 3-0 in their big games this season. This offense has a ton of potential. Give me a reason why Hartman cannot still pass for over 3,500 yards? Estime and Diggs are going to be better. Stuckey will be in his second year with our WR's and I hope that group steps up. Get a good hire for the o-line coach, keep that culture, and that unit picks up where it left off. My concern on offense is who is the next TE at TE-U?

Kelly had his hand and kept an eye on the offense, I think Freeman will do the same with the defense.

Grinch is still USC's DC, OSU will need to find Stroud's replacement, and will Clemson be on the rebound?

Clemson’s passing offense was so bad last year it would be hard for them not to improve. But you could say the same about us.

Jeez 8.5 points with a new QB and the game is in South Bend. Bet its lower come September.

Fox got this from one of the secondary ticket sites on avg transaction on home games alone as sites don't ask if you which team you are a fan of. So OSU owes their first place finish to ND fans paying top $$$ for tickets in the Shoe. Next year, they will fall to 4th place and ND will be on top.

Still not seeing the math there. The complicated pricing scheme makes it hard to track but safe to say there are vastly more face-value tickets that sell for under, say, $150 than over $300. Tens of thousands more.

And if we’re talking data from a secondary market website, that must be massively skewed by the Clemson game, maybe BYU if they counted that, and perhaps people pricing tickets way high to see what they can get, not what they actually sold for. Very few people paid $389 to go to Marshall or UNLV or BC.

Lies, damn lies, statistics, all that.
