Wouldn't that just be ND's luck? We (fans) have been begging for a favorable NY6 game for how long, and we finally get it... against Kentucky. No not, Iowa or Wisconsin, not a Pac-12 team we can move the ball against that is generally usually decent, but we match up against. Nope... Kentucky.

Who gives a shit. It would be an almost sure win and, subsequently, the biggest post-season win in the last 20+ years.

This,... take a peak at most all other big name program’s trophy cases... almost all of them have huge bowl wins in completely lop sided matchups. We are way overdue for one ourselves... we’ve been cursed by our name really, any time we qualify we have been matched up with the biggest and thus often times most difficult possible program...

2012 Top tacklers in order:
Manti (senior)
Zeke Motta (senior)
Bennett Jackson (junior)
Fox (senior)
Russell (frosh)
Shembo (junior)
Nix (junior)
Farley (soph)
Calabrese (senior)
Tuitt (soph)
KLM (5th)
Spond (junior)
Day (frosh)
Williams, Ishaq (soph)
Grace (soph)
Springmann (soph)
Councell (soph)
Moore (junior)
Shumate (frosh)
Slaughter (5th injured three games in)

I think Farley emerged due to Slaughter's injury - that was a near disaster. Behind Jackson/Russell we didn't have much. LB was cobbled together - outside of Manti who would even be on our two deep now? OLB - Shembo and Ishaq driving the pass rush with Councell and Spond playing out of necessity as much as anything? Love Nix/KLM/Tuitt but Kona was spelling Nix and freshman Day with soph Springmann to spell KLM/Tuitt.

Love/Pride/Vaughn > Jackson/Russell at worst =
Gilman/Elliott/Coleman/Griffith > Motta/Farley - Slaughter got hurt- who did we even bring in for nickle?
Coney/Tranquill/Bilal > Teo/Foxabrese/Spond/Shembo - is Manti enough to raise the group over what we have now?
Tillery/Bonner/Hayes/Okwara/Kareem > KLM/Nix/Tuitt/Schwenke/Day - at worst =

To gloss over a once-in-a-generation talent like that....wow...The level of disrespect is appalling....

He has a point, though. One amazing player doesn't make a defense better than a more overall talented unit. And 2012 is the only year he played like a man possessed. 2011 was more similar to Coney or Jaylon. Both great players so not knocking Te'o for not playing all world in 2011. He played inspired in 2012 and I think that raised the overall play of everyone around him.

I'm really glad you shared this. I think a few posters have said something about Daelin "disappearing" this season, but he's actually been wreaking havoc despite not lighting up the state sheet. He is frequently chasing down a QB, just hasn't had the fortune of bringing them down.

I'd prefer that they start others, and let him sit out unless there's really a need for him. Need him to get 100.

Let Dex lead the way with sprinkles of Davis, and one of Smith or CBo. Smith has already played in 2 games. Hope we're in a position to keep him at 4 or below. I don't think we've seen CBo yet, have we?

Thanks. He shows up as participating in 1 game (UND.com), but has zero rushing and receiving stats / attempts. Did he play special teams or something. Whatever it was, seems like a waste.

Returned at least one kickoff

Agreed, a lot more going on here than just sacks and TFL's. He's probably been the best edge run defender of the DE's.

As we saw on Saturday, we have a DL that can close out games. I think teams are going to have to be cognizant of this going forward. Which could change the complexion of a game in ND's favor.

juniors - just the time to shine. Crap ton of high level defensive production out of one class.

Keep hearing great things about Larry Black. A fair number of recruits have talked about him, which doesn't typically happen with graduate assistants.

Don’t wanna look to far ahead but ND should only lose 5 starters for next year 4 if love comes back

Mustipher, Bars, Coney, Tranquill, Tillery, Bonner are all gone for sure. No eligibility remaining for those guys. Everyone else could potentially be back. Dexter will also be gone but I don't know if he counts as a starter. Weishar has also played a big role but isn't a starter either. So 6 starters at a minimum are gone.
