He forgot "5 Wide Fullbacks" and "This post brought to you by ND Nation."

I agree with some of what he's saying, but in some respects he's really stuck in the past on some things here. We needed to inject some energy in that stadium, and introducing music over the PA and the future Jumbotron are ways they're trying to facilitate it. Don't tell me "We'll cheer when we start winning." I've heard that one before. Undefeated in 2012 and that stadium was silent until the 4th quarter against Pitt, they should have been rocking to help preserve that streak and help keep the team in it. When they DID come alive it rattled Pitt's offense quite a bit in overtime. Why couldn't we do that sooner?

As far as the Field Turf, it's hard to maintain a natural surface in north-west Indiana through wet weather games. Playing surface isn't tradition, and grass doesn't win championships. If we do plan on being a fast team then Field Turf was the best way to help us maintain that speed. There's nothing worse than watching a young talent like Folston sliding around the field and negating a speed advantage against a team like Navy.

At the end of the day a lot of the changes made during BK's tenure have been for the better. The author was complaining about the admin trying to improve the Gameday experience. I realize ND is still selling out at home, but that doesn't always mean everyone is in the stands. The student section has appeared thin some years, even in decent years. It's no secret that lots of people these days are opting to stay at home and watch from the comfort of their couches and their Wifi networks. By improving connectivity, expanding bench seating dimensions, and heated spaces you're providing options to these fans to try and entice them to come out to the games still.

I agree with many of these thoughts as important, but not all, there is one thing that should be counted-It was once said-----'The spirit of Notre Dame is unique, it is so unique that it is clean, it may be the cleanest thing we have in America' this my fellow Irish supporters is in jeopardy of going away. The brand is in trouble from losing games and media abuse and it must be rescued.

I don't think we've damaged the spirit of Notre Dame. I think we've only grown, and the few changes BK has made have been strictly to the stadium. He hasn't changed the academics, he hasn't changed any other buildings on campus, he hasn't removed any past traditions. In the end, you're either growing or you're dying. I think the Crossroads project has been all about growth. We needed ways to inject energy into the stadium, because even a winning team doesn't always translate to enthusiasm in that crowd. If that means some of the new changes push out some older donors that end up giving their tickets to younger, livelier family, I'm okay with that. We'll see what happens with demand and ticket sales as a result I guess, but at the end of the day our own version of the "12th man" has to pull it's weight. It's sad when we bring no discernable benefit to home field advantage and our stadium barely generates a mild roar when the opposing offense is on the field.

Yesssssss! I know many complained about McG and Nelson under performing last year. I didn't see it that way. I wouldn't say they were "dominant" but they were certainly very good, especially Nelson. I'm gonna go ahead and say that they will be the best LG/LT tandem in the country next year.

id flip McG back to RT and give everybody else on the OLine Roster a shot at LT. Just don't think Mike can get it done at LT

That's an idea and it could work. He'd be great at RT but after all the time they've invested in him at LT, I don't see that happening. I think we'll see the same lineup next year across the line except for RG of course. I think it'll be a Hoge, Kraemer battle. Eichenberg will understudy McG.

Over/under on false starts for next year is 55

McGlinchey's false start issue is baffling. He was physically incapable of staying still. It's like Chuck Knoblauch getting the yips and being unable to throw to first for months.

its cos he knows hes not athletic enough in his back peddle. he needs to try and cheat the snap a bit so he can deal with speed rushers

I respectfully disagree. I think it's was just a lack of focus issue. He's plenty athletic and I think he was really effective in pass blocking. I'd say he has quicker feet than most LT's out there.

I agree with this.... hopefully Liam pushes everyone but he won't leap frog our starting tackles

Not sure it's a lack of focus. He got beat more times than most thought he would. He's better suited for RT IMO.

Is this official?

No - just looking at that tweet and his name is missing from the list of "will return" guys. Purely speculation based on the current mock drafts and this tweet.

And the reason you didn't bother to use a question mark to indicate your speculation was?

The fact Kelly didn't mention him when stating the other 3 will be back leads me to believe that Kizer is either undecided or officially not returning and will make a statement soon. I think it's in everyone's best interest that he moves on. Although he had a slightly poor season, his throwing ability, above average running ability, smarts and size will likely make him a 1st round pick.

With knowing how Nelson, McG, Morgan and (sort of) Kizer are likely to decide regarding staying/going, can a MOD please start a 2017 projected depth chart thread? I love having the discussion.

SIAP, Anyone else see this tidbit this weekend about possible position switches? Any guesses or info on who may be moving where?

Notebook: Next Notre Dame coordinator will have freedom to choose his staff | Notre Dame Insider Football | ndinsider.com

Hopefully Tranquill to play more of a hybrid role. Just don't think he has the wheels to play safety.

I'd love to see them use him like the Patriots use Patrick Chung. Keep him near the line of scrimmage.
