I wasn't defending Rivals, just stating the Mods there never came out and said it. Mike Frank was ONE of the "journalists" who leaked the info, and a subscriber posted it on the ND Rivals boards. Driskell responded being pissed, stating this has been known for some time, but they were told to keep quiet until it was concrete. Also, wtf does the # of my posts have anything to do with this??
That is complete bullshit. Mike Frank never posted it first. MEMBERS posted it, not ISD's reporters. There are quite a few board members who have a few inside connections. Matter of fact, the guy that first stated it didn't even know he was breaking news; he just kind of put it out there as part of a larger post. And I know that guy - he sat with Elmer's dad and Elmer's dad is the one who told that poster that Elmer was thinking about hanging it up. And it was 100% legit. I ate lunch with the poster in question, and he brought along the parents of the walk-on RB who got a scholly (Anderson).
So I don’t know what kind of BS they are feeding you guys at Rivals, but Mike Frank never wrote that first on his site, and neither did Freeman, even though they both knew.
Mike Frank didn't post it. If my message said that, I apologize, I made a mistake. However, I listen to his podcasts and he said it directly on one of his podcasts. The poster who put this news on Rivals referenced the podcast as the source of the information. I can find the podcast for you if you'd like.
I listened to it. By then it was already out there on the ISD message board, and others as well. And he didn't say he was done...he only said it was a possibility, and it's something to think about going forward. Said the same about Robinson, as that news was already leaked as well.
How in the hell did you do that? No way this is real. If so I'm going on a 1 year mission. Well played however you did that.
Pete Sampson says he thinks it's related to the academic misconduct investigations.
Ha ha. next message -- Nyles Morgan transfers.
Nyles is staying put bro and there is not a player I am more excited about next year
just an FYI: We have the news, but will allow Notre Dame to provide the release tomorrow regarding the situation. To clear things up, as we owe that to our readers, it's regarding a player leaving the program. We were first advised of this situation about a month ago, but chose to let things play out, as it wasn't a definite this player was returning or not. If you've been on Irish247 for quite some time, you will not be surprised with this development.
247
So it's Elmer....
Don't understand why this was made to be such a big deal, both by the University and "reporters"
Right. What's the actual story with Elmer anyway? Couldn't find it.

He got a job offer that he couldn't refuse.
With all due respect to Steve Elmer, who is a fine player, the idea that Notre Dame needed to leak information to "soften the blow" of Elmer deciding to quit football makes me chuckle. A few people might be "upset" for a few minutes and then it would be over. ND PR sometimes does the weirdest things.
I don't think it was ND that leaked the info with intention of "softening the blow," I think that was just a lame excuse that the Rivals guys came up with when they realized that the fans weren't down for their teaser.

Yup. I am never going to have a subscription for this reason. I seriously can't stand these stupid teasers that they put out. Post the news or don't.
is he graduating this spring??
Watch it not even be Elmer and then we can be furious at 247 too.
I hate losing quality depth on the OL. I've never thought Elmer was good, but losing him does hurt. Gotta stay healthy and we're ok,but we all know how that goes.
Elmer WAS good, IMO, but he also had the most noticeable whiffs at times.
He had trouble with his upper body getting too far out over his feet, aka not moving his feet enough at times. That was a consistent issue, but he was still a pretty good lineman the rest of the time.
