Friends,
With the season we've had comes new names on the board, some friendly and some less friendly. This is a reminder that what other sites do and what the trolls say does not begin to approach what is acceptable here. I've had, unfortunately, to assess infractions against our own members because, in the heat of the moment, they've made comments that have failed to meet the level of hospitality and class that ought to characterize a Notre Dame fanbase. And even if it weren't to characterize the fanbase as a whole, it will characterize this board.
Many of you have been plenty helpful by reporting posts and trolls. As a favor to my mods and me, I ask that more people report posts instead of responding to the trolls. This just leaves more for us to clean up after the fact. Relatedly, as BGIF has aptly pointed out to me, linking to smack talk sites from other fan forums only encourages the trolling. Please refrain from linking to those places.
Finally, although I myself find it hard to believe that anyone could not root for Notre Dame and presume that anyone who doesn't is probably trolling, there is in all seriousness a line between being a troll and being a fan of another team. We've had some classy, thoughtful fans of Oklahoma, USC, and even Michigan on here throughout the years and this will continue to be a place where such fans can come to talk pigskin.
As always, I encourage discussion and invite questions. Let me know what you guys think, either here or in PM.
