Dude, you’ve got Great Smoky Mountains National Park right there and you go for all the carney attractions ;)

Go hiking - Chimney Tops, Charlie’s Bunion, and Abrams Falls are 3 of the best. Drive through Cades Cove too. Don’t overlook it!

Best restaurants in Gatlinburg - Log Cabin Pancake House and Best Italian Cafe.
Have you ever hiked (or tent-camped) with small children? It's the worst thing ever.

As a youngster the Smokey's was a semi-regular vacation for us. Camped in Cades Cove and had a bear sniffing around pretty much every night.

We've taken the kids to the Smokey's several times when they were youngsters.

Wife and I went down to UT for a road trip when the Irish played the vols back in 2001. Took a few extra days off and spent them in the Smokey's.

In Gatlinburg there's an artist colony back off the main route. My wife is artistic so we hit that up a couple of times. She picked up some pretty nice pottery pieces and decent prices if you're looking for something a little different.

The wife and I rented a cabin about four years ago. It was about a 15 minute drive to get back to Seiverville so we were out there off some country road with no one around. Never heard any banjo's thankfully.

We had a loop that we'd do over the course of ten days when I lived in Orlando. Hilton Head Island for two nights, to Pigeon Forge for 3, to Nashville for 3, back to Hilton Head for two.

I love hiking and driving to the various places in the park itself. Klingman's Dome is excellent as long as you get there once a chunk of the morning fog dissipates. Cades Cove is fantastic. Hiking to the different waterfalls and lookouts is just WOW.

Personally not a camper but that's why the cottage or cabin up in the hills is gorgeous and fun. Plus you can choose your level of roughing it or cost...something basic to luxurious...and many do have hot tubs.

We love the shops and attractions in Gatlinburg, some of the tourist-y stuff, and you can find some lovely things on the artist's loop. Generally don't do too much in Pigeon Forge as that is more tuned to touristy stuff but some of the museums and shows are really great. I loved the Titanic museum too.

Log Cabin restaurant is good but hit Crockett Breakfast Camp pastime and loved it. Had to practically be rolled out. Good thing we walk so much when there!

PS. Last time we went was the summer before the big fire. I am curious to see it now.

Yes, both of my boys have been in Cub Scouts (oldest is now in Boy Scouts), so we have been hiking, backpacking, and camping several times a year for years. It’s been a ton of fun. Of course you can’t be doing 10 mile hikes with toddlers, but I’ve found that if they get used to being in the outdoors from an early age and get hooked on it like my kids, it can be awesome. My wife thankfully enjoys camping and hiking too, and our family vacations are typically road trips to National Parks. We’ve done Yellowstone/Grand Teton, all the NPs in Florida, the mighty 5 in Utah, the Smokies about 4 times, amongst several others. We plan to hit every NP in our lifetime (I’m 38) and so far have over 20 down. I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything, and I wish my kids were younger because I know there will come a day soon when they don’t want to be seen with their parents on a family vacation :). Enjoy the time you have with them and make the most of it!

I am linking from https://izismile.com

Sometimes they work and sometimes some don't work for some. Not sure why. I can always post the link too. Or you can quote it to get the link.

If anyone has an explanation for this, I would appreciate it.
