Yeah, because if there's one place that's totally famous for fall, it's... Michigan?

Did you get dropped on your head as a child? Michigan's fall colors can stand toe to toe with anything in the northeast. I have lived in both areas and can tell you first hand. One of the primary tourists attraction of our state are the fall colors. The best part about Michigan though, is that there aren't any New Englander's parading around in their LL Bean duck boots and acting like they enjoy the outdoors.

I'm thinking of posting pictured rocks autumn vs. The Berkshires. I think both are whiz-bang beautiful.

Make sure she takes enough breaks and drinks a lot of water. You might consider going to the drug store and getting her a large tube of sun screen. When she comes in to fix your lunch be extra specially nice to her.

Haha. She wanted me to do it. Couldn't even get coffee in me and she shoved me out the door with a smile and "you be safe now"....

Come to AZ and get some 110+ temps and then tell me you like heat. Yesterday Phoenix hit 114. Then tell me if you like the heat.

But it's a dry heat.... Not like fully saturated air...

I kid

spent July-Sept out there a few years back, and spent a ton of time over the summer there in the late 90s opening up a call center in E Mesa (off Superstition HW). loved it. my aunt lives in Sun City, and out to see her often. Mom and other aunt considering the move. will likely buy a second house there in the next 5 years because I LOVE IT :). And I'm sure you have heard it, but it is a dry heat. 115 there is as bearable as 95 in Hotlanta. At least that's my opinion. Will PM you next time I'm out there and will buy you a cold beer in that wonderful dry heat :)

Always, except for most of the year when Indy is also hot. It would be nice if there was a city like Atlanta, but in reverse, for those of us who want it to be cool all year round. If I never saw a temp above 70 again, I'd die happy. Unfortunately, you GOTTA get hot sooner or later, while the entire southern region exists for people who like being gently boiled in their sleep for some reason. I wish I could escape summer like half the country escapes winter.

50s here last night and still rocked the AC a bit.

One of my aunts is like that. she's considering San Fran for just those reasons. doubt she makes the move as she can't stand the people there. I hear land is cheap in Alaska lol.

Alaska doesn't cut it, unfortunately. I'm not a fan of the midnight sun and I like there to be actual cities. Also, Alaska has its own time zone, adding to the isolation. I don't want to live in the middle of nothing, I just want the same situation you have in reverse. Like, if Columbus never got above 80 and when it did people ran around like chickens with their heads cut off and called in FEMA because they didn't have equipment to deal with the situation. Then neighboring states could send in extra AC units to help handle the extraordinary weather as people went home from work early. Just like the south, but in reverse.

Have you ever actually been to Alaska? Because the midnight sun rocks and Anchorage is a real city with bars and such. I could see why someone would dislike AK in winter, but the place is a freaking dream in summer. Possibly the best summers on the planet, really.

I'm really more of a big city person. Alaska doesn't have any of those. I find Lansing as a city to be deplorable and its metro pop is almost equal to the entire state of Alaska. I'm sure it's fun to visit and I'll bet they've got cool stuff in the major towns, but the isolation is really a big factor for me.

The midnight sun comes in because I sleep like crap anyway and don't really need the help killing my circadian rhythm.

I see there was a significant size tornado outside of Chicago last night. I hope no one was near there.

The worst part will be the winds on sunday. Gust up to 50 mph no thanks.

Where have you heard this? I'm staying right outside of DC. Can practically see the Capitol from my room. I'm leaving early Friday to get out of the mess but need to drive in on Sunday.
These people on the news are acting like mother nature's about to do another Pearl Harbor on this place. East coaster's....

People couldn't drive worth a damn when we got 2 inches today. When we get 12 on Friday, oh man.

Idiot freaking people. If you think you're going to lose power, you don't load up on fresh meat of all things.

Why not? If you are going to lose power AND have below freezing temps, then you can just put the meat in a cooler on the porch.

If you get three feet of snow, you're going to have a hard time even opening a door to get outside without jumping out a window. Plus, being able to actually cook the meat presupposes that you have gas appliances, which loads of people don't.

Most people have some kind of covering over their porch, stoop, whatever, that keeps the area right in front of the door clear. And plenty of people have gas or charcoal grills that they can cook on. It might be f*cking cold to do it, but if you get hungry enough.......

Forecast in my area calling for 24 inches of snow accumulation. My two teen sons have convinced themselves that I planned my gall bladder surgery (yesterday) around this storm so I would not be available to help shovel snow. I assured them my role as project manager for snow removal would be unaffected.
