i guess i wouldn't know.
"If found guilty of the Class A misdemeanor, Floyd faces a maximum sentence of a year in jail."
How much of chance is this?
Not a chance. I am sure he has a good lawyer. I only see probation and maybe an alcohol class if he hasn't already voluntarily went to one.
according to II. Sampson talked to a couple very good sources around the program and they expect Brian Kelly to reinstate Michael Floyd this summer or even before to rejoin the team for offseason workouts. Decision could come sooner than expected. boom
Meh.
I'd actually be pretty upset with the university if Floyd gets zero suspension.
Why?
Because as Notre Dame we are supposed to have morals. Our players are supposed to be held to high standards and be punished for going against them. No discipline would contradict one of the things that makes us different from most colleges.
How do you know that? You are totally and completely disregarding the Res Life decision and integrity and Kellys decision and integrity.
You, obviously, know much better on how Floyd should be handled and you know exactly that he should be punished. When was the last time you spoke with him?
You ASSUME it contradicts what makes us different. Actually, what makes us different, is we actually caring about our players more than what the media, and fans like you, will say.
If you cared about Floyd as a person, more than you care about how ND will be looked at, you might see this is what is best for him.
It is obvious that ND will be bashed for this and all the haters will whiny like cats at night "oh now ND is just like the Big 10" "bleh bleh blah"...etc Obviously Kelly and Co know this.
This in itself, tells me that they are doing what is best for Michael Floyd, rather than care about what the media says about Notre Dame.
Neither one of you guys got personal. Just stated an opinion. No need to get personal. I am just stating my opinion that is obviously against yours. Im just saying this is nit this guys first offense. Yes it may be best for his future to play this whole season. That way he can really showcase his talent and move on to a nice spot in the NFL. But think of the future of the family without a mom or a dad.
A Floyd suspension is a bad move. Floyd missing games punishes the player and the team. The team does not deserve that. They deserve their all-American wide out. Floyd's penalty for self reflection should be all day Sundays picking up trash on the side of the road reflecting if he wants to go to the NFL - which stands for "Not For Long if you keep boozing it up Floyd!" or waste away. Make him a part of DD PSA's. Don't care, but Let the kid play. Don't punish the team. But make it very uncomfortable off the filed. Very uncomfortable. Do the right thing Coach.
Bring back Floyd
Discipline like a Champion
Go Irish
We would all like to win another championship, or three. To do that, you must have your stars on the field. Mike is a star. Mike didn't kill anyone, and "what ifs" are irrelevant. From the Wac to the Sec, players, especially stars, are getting away with a whole heck-of-a-lot more, and those teams are winning championships, in large part, because they keep their stars on the field. YOU DO NOT MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF YOUR STAR!!!
I played D1 football, and know what goes on, and I can tell you that what Mike did -on a scale of one to ten- is a one. Championship teams keep their stars on the field, in order to win championships. Do you want to rejoice in another Irish championship? I do. I can't wait to welcome Mike back. Brian Kelly gets it. Go Irish!!!
I'm on the fence personally. Regardless of out come I will be concerned for Mike... making a mistake is something we all do... but he has shown a pattern here... and his status and ability in a high profile field could make any young man have a bit of a sense of entitlement...
I'm mainly concerned for his future more than anything. Hoping it works out for HIM and the University more than the football team at this point to be honest. If that means giving him a wake up call and sitting him so be it. Maybe it doesn't... as none of us are first hand here.
Time tells all.
