Suplemental draft even though everything is in limbo with NFL CBA? I would be slightly suprised; but if I were him Id wait out the year and hope a team takes me in the first round the following year. Worked for Mike Williams when he sat a full year and was selected as the 10th overall pick.

Then again, Matt Millen is not making decisions in the upcoming draft...

A white caddie? I'm going to re-iterate my comment from earlier in the thread expressing concern about who the car belonged to. At this point if we simply lose Floyd to the supplemental draft I'll be happy with the resolution.

Like I said earlier....What if it's a 1998 White Caddie? If so it's probably like $750. You don't know the year or condition of the car. No need to speculate.

What is wrong with his car? Man this whole car conspiracy nonsense is unnecessary.

A vehicle is a vehicle.

Go nap off your speculation on a grassy knoll somewhere.

Since there is no shortage on speculation on this site, Mike could sit the year out and apply for a 5th year. With the uncertainty in the NFL he could be sitting the year out anyways, why not come back to Notre Dame keep your nose clean and improve your draft stock. I’m not exactly sure on the rules of the 5th year if you have been removed from school for a semester. Darrin Walls left school for a semester did he lose that year of eligibility? How would this work?

Good job, idiot.

I get it your upset, and you changed your post, which was prolly a good idea. In any event, he made a mistake, and he should pay the price, whatever the law and ND deem appropriate. If that's kicking him off the team then so be it, but it's kinda harsh, the reaction from some people on here. It is a dumb decision on his part, and he has to deal with the consequences. He's 21, I know a lot of us were incredibly immature at that age, myself included, so I think being a little more understanding, while realizing he made a huge mistake, and not crucifying the kid would be the best scenario.

Also people need to ease up on the kid, nothing like piling it on when the young kid probably feels like he made the worst mistake of his life. I don't think you need to call him an idiot for him to realize he flucked up. I'm sure nobody here has ever made a decision that they regret in the morning. However big or small it may be. Mike I hope you haven't played your last game in an Irish uni, but if you have you will always be an Irish great one to me. GO IRISH.

21 isn't some mythical age where maturity is granted by some god like creature, and a lack of maturity doesn't excuse the choice to drink and drive. Drinking and driving is the same thing whether you are 10, 21 or 87. Using a lack of years on this planet as an excuse for making such a mistake is wrong! Accepting the consequences for his choice is a step to maturity.

I hope that Floyd gets zero special treatment, after all of the facts are out. If he is found guilty, then regardless of how close to the limit he was, the punishment should be for DUI not reckless endangerment/driving. I was guilty of reckless driving, and it was because I decided I needed to make blue smoke out of my tires.

This is bad for the team, he is a phenomenal wide receiver. The other receivers have now been presented with the challenge of filling Floyd's shoes. Hopefully, one or more of them accepts the challenge.

Had Floyd been driving a lawn tractor, golf cart, or Segway I may have been able to take a lighter-hearted approach towards the incident, but he was operating a full sized, nearly two ton, people killer, family destroyer...and if he is guilty, he needs to be punished as such.

This is true, im just saying once i turned 21 it really start to hit home how dangerous it was. I do agree with you that its wrong no matter the age

At his age, I wasn't getting a free education from a top school in the country while also being the face of a major college football program at the same time. He's an idiot.

So you have never made a poor life decision? You're perfect? Is that what you're saying?

Honestly at the age of 21 you don't even want to know what I was doing.

He really f***ed up here.

I mean, this is what one night of partying and bad decisions could take away from him: a potential BCS bowl, potential Heisman trophy, his name next to nearly every receiving record at Notre Dame, potential atmospheric status in Notre Dame history, potential first round draft pick, and maybe millions of dollars.

To be honest, I feel bad for him.

If he is still on probation and this is a violation of probation...he has a more serious issue than if he is going to be able to play for ND next fall.

Yea, it deserves more than two games. Three incidents, he's off the team, and deservedly so.

Face it Mike Floyd has a drinking problem. This is very similar to Cris Carter's drinking issues during his time at Ohio State and with the Eagles. I hope Mike can turn his career around like Cris Carte did.

If he indeed did do this then he should be off the team. Its too early to necessarily say we are screwed because this team has alot of talent. If he did do it then like i said he should be off the team. Id rather struggle a bit at wide receiver for a year then become another Florida or Georgia. Notre Dame does things much differently then most schools and it should stay that way.
