First three bullet points are probably fine (and I personally like them!) even if unenforceable. 4th bullet point is just a feel good nothingburger that's basically impossible to enforce without very specific guidelines on funding allocation %s (and we already had this kind of "equivalency" crap under Title IX and it sucks... actually killed many sports programs nationwide in the long run).

This is my last political post on this thread, but I will end it on saying if you look at trump's history you'll see he doesn't do anything himself that is successful, he relies on people he can scam and con into giving him money. On the topic of this thread, I will say anything the sport can do without involving the president will probably be a better idea.

The sport could do without, I agree. Ultimately it probably gets overruled in court anyway but it at least maybe puts some people on notice to button things up… or maybe gives them more power.

In there, pretty detailed look at Trumps real estate ascent. Seemed like taking advantage of Koch and city in crisis for massive tax breaks helped his rise considerably. Certainly smart enough to understand leverage. Then, the tax breaks went away and he pivoted (after bullying & public pressure didn’t really work). The next move, Atlantic City, a was an unmitigated financial disaster.

I don’t think that’s the EO itself (but it’s all I can find in five minutes of searching which is a little weird) but it doesn’t even purport to identify what authority he’s pretending to do it under. Thing has about as much legal weight as my used toilet paper.

Rather than go lolz tds, either link the EO itself or tell me what statute, section of the constitution, international treaty, or ancient common law principle he’s claiming gives him the authority to determine how many years a college athlete can be in school. Genuinely not trying to be political here, but this EO if implemented has huge ramifications so it seems kind of relevant that it doesn’t appear to be enforceable.

Contrary to easy believe, I think Trump is probably aware of the courts capability here but is strategically aligned with conference leaders to apply maximum pressure.
