Can't wait!
It's gonna a road game at the Rose Bowl. The Mexican fans will show up in full force (they LOVE their team), and they are BRUTAL towards American fans. And this isn't racist at all - I have several Mexican friends, my goddaughter is Mexican, my 2nd mom is Mexican, etc etc - it's just that their fans are about as bad as they come when it comes to Americans and soccer. Seen it first hand.
But the game should be awesome. Mexico should be favored, the way we are playing and the way they FINALLY have a true world class striker again. My brother is in town from Miami, and his wife is Mexican so we'll be watching it with her family and some Spaniards as well (we'll be rooting for the good guys of course).
My wife and daughter are both part Mexican,... and you're dead on, and if segments of thier fans are going to act that way without getting called out, they we can at least point it out without being racists... I posted earlier that this game should be dubbed "There will be blood" moreso for the stands, it has potentil to be bad, personally you could not pay me to go to this game in person,... When I heard the final was in So Cal I face palmed... it should be as far north as possible any time these two meet imo... although with all the talk of the fans, the Mexican
team has shown a downright dirty style of play towards our boys for years now... long history there.
When I visit with my wife's Mexican-American family and they talk soccer (I'm more into it than any of them, they are all casual) they mention how they go for USA and Mexico... I totally understand from heritage aspects of course... but the sports fan in me who knows better rolls my eyes at them... lol
Some of it is from our side too now,... I grew up in a neighborhood nicknamed "little Mexico" ... the events that followed us being knocked out in the 94 World Cup,... contrasted to the events of Mexico getting knocked out (I believe a day later) are still hardwired into me I'll admit... Every great rivalry has it's history I guess
ANYWAY, their boys have shown an ability to get into grooves where they unlock teams with ease lately... whereas our defense has been unlocked quite easily many times in this tourney... not a good combo...
my hope is that my assesment of Chicharito is correct and he is a classy kid and he stays that way(i only judge from his play and attitude on the pitch, I know nothing otherwise, but he seems like a good kid thus far)... If he does he can go a long way towards changing the culture of that team... over time who knows... as of now, "good ole fashioned hate" covers it on both sides
