Men's USMNT got whacked by Belgium today. Decent first half but the second half (and lots of the first) showed horrendous midfield play --- in my opinion all three starters were between stinking and useless. Adams, of course was unavailable, and Luna was hurt, and McKennie properly played a forward instead of midfield, so, in my opinion, our MF cupboard was bare. Emptiness on offense, and criminally incompetent on defense. Matt Turner wasn't given a chance in the net. Commentators were morons or cowards about calling people like Tessman, Tillman, and Cardoso out. Pocchetino at least benched Cardoso. The subs once in didn't look any better. Rolan actually looked best and that's an "ouch" as a "Best." ... moron commentators occasionally mentioned Doku giving Weah (at right back) fits, but Weah was OK almost all the time --- it was mentioned pre-game that no team tries to defend Doku with one man. I don't think Pocchetino did either but the defensive mids were lazy, stupid, or cowardly at getting over and helping. McKennie looked good at forward and Pulisic too except for not getting his final foot placement right on strikes. If McKennie stays as a forward, I believe we have no chance to appear competitive unless Adams gets back, and the coach gets him and Luna in the midfield. ... the pain goes on.
