So the US Soccer Federation will pay up to get the absolute best women's manager in the game, but settle on Berhalter for the men? I think I hate them even more now.

Difference is the Women’s team is the best job in the world, where as the men’s team is no where near that.

Infrastructure needs total revamping on the men and women sides. Probably need to work from the bottom up if we're going to reestablish our dominance on the women's side and become true global players on the men's side.

Regardless of whoever the coach is, the developmental/youth component of how they find talent needs to be totally overhauled.

I think that this new USWNT coach has a BIG retrofit job in front of her. When we were actually feared by the rest of the world we had a team loaded with competitive character. Almost no member of that competitive type remains. And no team out there fears us. Commentators (with the occasional exception of the only honest one among them: Ally Wagner) keep smiling their stupid moron smiles and referring to us as the number one team in the world when MAYBE we're in the top ten near the bottom. (there are probably 6 to 8 European teams generally better, plus Brazil still and Australia and Japan or China --- and NONE fear us. There was a player from some team like Spain who looked the cameras straight in the eye and said they come in here dancing and laughing and back it up with nothing on the pitch.

And then there's Julie Ertz. Probably the best player in the world, and our coaching staff and team play could not create an incentive where she wanted to continue playing. Yes, there are doubtless a great number of reasons for her not to go on, but this team's crap play, and some disrespect to her sidekick super players like Sauerbrunn and Dunn (The other two players you would have picked for a world's best eleven), and unimaginative sweeping out all the "old" just for some theoretical dream, and crap offense never getting Morgan any service --- hell, the atmosphere must have been joyless.

Ertz is irreplaceable but at least these morons have finally found Sonnett (they never re-found Krieger). My first assessment of the new boss will be if she installs Emily firmly at our 6 and benches whatever her name is. My second assessment will be what she does with Smith --- a cherry-picking non-passer who kills inferior opposition and is passively soft vs anyone good. Will she play? (vs say Rodman, the MUCH superior choice.) If so, will the coach INSIST on passing the ball? ... etc etc I have loads of questions, but will leave it here. Becky Sauerbrunn HAS to be totally welcomed back, and installed as captain. This team sucks as to leadership. Astounding that they were trying to ease Becky out too. I'd love to see Mal Pugh/Swanson back starting with Rodman or one of the really young ones, and still Morgan but with her now getting some passes. Need Lavelle ALL the time. She is unique on this team. Girma is a rare good new player. But it wouldn't hurt to have Dahlkamper back too. Fox has developed and can play either wingback --- paired with Dunn? Good. There's potential, which stupidity plus injury has clobbered. This team's coaching has really frustrated me.

Great question. And Chelsea is in the news again too, and the scope of what is going on with them is worse.

There are going to be lawsuits galore. The three teams that got relegated in 2021-22 could also sue because they went down and Everton stayed up.

Self regulation should really be a thing in sports.

I've always found it fascinating the juxtaposition of sports leagues/franchises in the USA/Canada and Europe. These European clubs and leagues operate in a much more free market system than here.

Watched the USMNT last evening --- what a snoozer of a performance UNTIL the moron coach FINALLY put Pepe and Aaronson in the game. The amperage of the attack and its creativity INSTANTLY went WAY up and we were all over the box like we should be. (Tillman might be a good player but he was awful in that game, essentially ruining each play in which he had a hand.) Pepe obviously was outstanding but Balogun was meh --- my guess is that he would be better with Pepe and Aaronson in the game as well. The color announcer finally said in about the 55th minute "this is a game that is crying for Aaronson", as we looked so blah. Pulisic not being there, then why wasn't Aaronson in the game? And the announcer said, Pepe must be wondering when is his turn to start? I am glad that i finally got a game to watch where Reyna could demonstrate to me why there's all the hype around him. EXTREME awareness of the field, and calmness managing it. Tim Ream might be getting better with age and his partner looks powerful and with reasonable speed. Turner had nothing really to do, but God Bless America that we have him. Dest was excellent all night. Robinson pretty good too.

To reiterate: Berthalder is a Moron, and we're stuck with him for eternity apparently.

I Think the Chooch who Chelsea overpaid for sold it a tad bit much. It's probably a pen, but he went flying like he got launched by Brock Lesnar. It was a bit much.

The referee was letting everything go the last 15 minutes.
