I’ve got to admit that the first thing that crosses my mind during the VaR was that of course these corrupt assholes are gonna take away the goal. It was only ten minutes later than the graphic was shown and I’m like soooo how come it took that long to show us?
Clint Dempsey said it best. Tie should go to the runner. If it is even or that close, goal.

I’m constantly amazed how Soccer federations seem intent on disallowing the most goals possible. It’s the most exciting part of the game and they seem hell-bent on eliminating them. Anything close and the call should stand.

This. Add to it that the excitement of a goal being scored is often tempered as we await the confirmation from VAR.

Nobody saw that until they put that 7D graphic up that showed three of his toes being off. The explanation came ten minutes later.

Yes, but right call. Don't care we got the info late, just care if it was right or not.

I've seen lots of starting lineup predictions on the US squad that do not include Weah or Aaronson. Crazy that these two may not start when they are arguably the best wingers on the team. And I love Pulisic and Reyna too. I don't remember the last time a US squad was this deep at attacking mid and wing positions. Good problem to have.

It’s got to be this for me
Pulisic Weah Aaronson
Musa/Reina Adams McKennie
Dest Zimmerman Ream one of the robinsons

irish women just beat TCU 2-0 to advance to an elite eight matchup with UNC next weekend at home
An elite group of young women. Three very good players from Illinois, too, one of whom is a local freshman from our area.

I am already prepared for UNC to go to PKs but I'd take a 1-0 win any day.

I started watching the England Iran game at about the 35 minute mark. First half has 14 minutes of stoppage time. They are really making sure the full amount of time gets played finally.

Hoping for a few more English goals as much as I don’t like rooting for them. A US win combined with a major goal differential with another opponent is dream start.

The Iranian keeper had a concussion that took up about 10 minutes but agreed with you

Always kind of a trip how quickly the WC Final gets urgent,… today isn’t a full on must win but it’s close, it’s certainly a ‘must not let Wales get all three points’

US has a chance to advance with 4 points. Get 5 points and it should be a definite. 6 and it's obviously locked.

I think we need at least a draw versus Wales and win versus Iran but i think a loss against England is inevitable.

eh, its the world cup. I dont assume the USA can't hang in there for 90 minutes in any given game. Would be a surprise, not a shock, to draw England.

Well,… here we go. I’ll say before it all starts. I totally understand why the US system copied a lot of the Scottish survivalist mentality in the 60s and 70s trying to build this thing from literally nothing. It’s long since been time to fully move on however and I still worry Berhalter is too much a product of that outdated system even when he tries to not be.I hope they are positive and play to their strengths but if I had to bet we are disappointed and our boys finish third in the group. I think the talent is there,… it’s the mentality and leadership I still worry about. We will see, I hope Greg proves me wrong

I worry about that as well. I know Klinsmann had faults, but his building of our youth system helped bring this talented group up today. I have to wonder if we had stuck through that time, what they'd be like since he brought that continental style to the team.

Then again, maybe these kids go out there, nothing to lose, and show us how good we believe they can be despite those flaws.

I BELIEVE!
