After watching the USA-Mexico game in a home game in NYC I remembered hearing about what stadiums would give team USA an actual home game potential. Obviously even in the right circumstances they still won’t because Mexican fans travel so well but I ran a cross-reference with a list of the most populated cities in the USA down to reasonably sized cities. Then I found the states with the lowest population of Mexican-Americans and came across these cities that could potentially host a more pro-US match. Fairly interesting...
1. Cincinnati, Ohio
2. Columbus, Ohio
3. Cleveland, Ohio
4. St. Louis, Missouri
5. Kansas City, Missouri
6. Detroit, Michigan
7. New Orleans, Louisiana
8. Nashville, Tennessee
9. Memphis, Tennessee
10. Minneapolis, Minnesota
3 of those cities are on the shortlist of finalist for the 2026 World Cup matches (Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Nashville). I think for most matches it isn’t a big deal but anytime the US plans on playing Mexico they should have the game in Columbus, Ohio, or maybe the new Cincinnati FC stadium when it’s done. You might as well play the game in Mexico City if you’re going to go to New York cause that stadium was 90-10 Mexican fans. National team has to realize these things when they’re scheduling these games. It would be really cool to see USA play in the brand new stadium in Minnesota or in 2021 the new stadium in Cincinnati. Those would give team USA probably a more 50-50 crowd when playing Mexico.
