HORRIBLE draw for Barca. There’s not a gimme in that group. Watched it with my co-worker, and told him I felt sorry for Celtic and didn’t want them to have to play us again, and then we get friggin’ Porto as our “easiest” game. Suddenly I was pining for Celtic again LOL.

And then you guys get Bayern and PSG!! Unbelievable your (lack-of) luck. While you avoided Barca, you still got Neymar lol.

Phenomenal draw for Liverpool. Couldn’t be happier with it. They have a real chance of making it to the knock-out stage.

Yeah we've had shitty draws three straight now... but they can make third possibly, get to Europa... itll still be fun...

Poch punted on the Europa League two years ago at BVB.

Last year in th CL they were fine but missed Kane for several games.

Dele is serving a 3 game ban so really zero chance Spurs pick up points against Madrid or BVB in the first two matchups. I'm fine with it, take the money and get back to a strong league performance in this dumb season at Wembley.

Wow, that does change things.

Spurs should buy Ross Barkley, if he is willing to be behind Dele and Eriksen in the pecking order. I think he would be pretty good as a backup to Dele in particular. Same athleticism and dynamism, although Barkley doesn't have nearly the same intensity; switches off too often. Still, I'd go in for him, if I were Poch/Levy.

If Virgil Van Dijk goes to Arsenal, there is virtually no hope left for humanity.

Pretty sure we got the Group of Death with Real and Dortmund. Splitting hairs really though.

They've been linked with him all summer. Too bad he tore his hamstring and won't be back until November/December and wouldn't be truly fit in a new system until 2018. That might drive his price down a little bit.

Buffon wanted Celtic in his draw, said no better way to finish his career than experiencing that electrity or some such... Celtic always gets tons of love for the environment but thought it was extra special coming from him...

Oh, I didn't realize he had such a serious injury. I'd pass then. I don't know that they really need to bring anybody in except maybe a fullback, but if they are gonna buy someone, they'll probably want him now for CL depth.

So who do you root for? Roma is in your IE handle so I guess they win out?

Chelsea was sort of picked for me. I have family that has lived in London since the 70's and they sent me Chelsea gear to wear in the early 90s. Way before I could even watch Chelsea on TV. I have old hats, soccer socks, and other random Chelsea gear still at my parents house that I'm saving for my kid.

I consciously picked AS Roma as my favorite team probably somewhere right after the 98 WC. My neighbor growing up was another Italian soccer family, and I remember learning about Roma and their star player from them. Still to this day, Francesco Totti is my favorite player of all time. He was my idol when I was around 10 years old, and I tried to play like him and still do. I hope my boy grows up to play like Totti.

AS Roma is my #1 team. Chelsea is my #2. I will cheer for Roma over Chelsea in those 2 group stage matches.

yeah i figured there were some family ties there :) Seria A actually looks interesting this year for the first time in ages. Milan spending big, Napoli playing great football and Juve strong again, its pretty wide open

I am picking Napoli to win the Scudetto this season. They are in the top 10 best possession teams in Europe, their counter attack is second to only Real Madrid, and they have a great coach in Sarri. At this stage, the defense will only get better, unless they fall victim to injuries. I fully expect Napoli to win some hardware this year.

This goddamn Wembley curse. Spurs have dropped 5 points at home compared to just 4 all of last season.

Nice job by Pool today, though.

Pool is so much fun. Really looking forward to getting Phil and Lallana back fit.

Still want VVD. Also... lock Can down to a contract please. Such an exceptional athlete.

Salah and Mane terrorizing with speed/quickness + skill. BUT, this Arsenal team has very little physicality compared to the more thuggish teams. They are prime meat for Liverpool, since they can't hurt them with brute force.

Loved the game; still skeptical when Klopp must play physical intimidating teams. Speed doesn't always beat power --- power plus skill will almost always prevail. Need one (at least) airspace enforcer.

Rumors that Naby Keita is in the UK. Liverpool had a bid for Thomas Lemar rejected by Monaco, immediately made a higher bid. No screwing around. Also looking at finally getting Van Dijk deal done and are looking at Renato Sanches.

Could be some week for Liverpool.

Emre Can is an absolute tank in the midfield.

Watford scored two offside goals on Liverpool, otherwise they're humming about right now.

Wow great news on the transfer front.

Now the plans are starting to take shape. Fight off Barca for now, use Coutinho in midfield this year and also in his customary "wing/10" position, sell him next summer with Keita coming in to replace him. Makes sense.

The Lemar news is great too. I have been nervous for some time about the lack of winger depth. We have guys like Coutinho and Lallana who can be effective out on the wing but aren't true Klopp-style wingers in the way Mane and Salah are. Similar with Origi, Firmino, Sturridge ... all can play on the wing but are better playing as center forwards. Getting in a guy like Lemar would make me a lot less worried about injuries to Mane and Salah.

Just get the VVD deal done and it will be a perfect summer for LFC.

Pool lmao this is lit. Naby fookin Keita. Delicious. Lemar could be fun. VVD would make these khakis I'm wearing feel a little tight.

Sanches not in their plans.

If they add Lemar and VVD they're contenders. They need to get Lovren to the bench.

My Liverpool guys are tracking VVD en route to Melwood right now. Its on twitter. They tracked his plane, and are following the clubs car from the airport right now. :) LOL. Not sure if true. Will keep you posted.

Re: Coutihno, my hope is he stays another year. Wont be clear until the window closes as he was obviously lying about his bad back.

Re; Keita - wow great business there. Boom.

Re: Arsenal thrashing - that was some of the best football I have seen in a while from a PL side. Wenger out?
