I need Cack to come assure me Coutinho isn't leaving.

Don't sweat it.

Sorry. I can't. Seems like a reported deal was done for initial 86.1 mil pounds up to 108.8 mil pounds on performance bonuses. My guys are crying in their basements right now. Hard to know who to trust though, it has been 50/50 for a while.

Oh geezus just when I was feeling better about it ...

I mean that's what ESPN has been reporting, right? So Cack's guys think it is credible ... Ugh. That would really screw us for this season. It's like losing a winger and a midfielder.

My only consolation is that it is mainly Spanish papers and British rags posting exact details. Sky and BBC are not reporting a deal is struck. If my guys are wrong, I would love for it to be about this.

If he insists on leaving, tell him you'll let him rot on the bench during the season leading up to a World Cup taking place during the prime of his career.

He doesn't get to fuck up what should be a great season.

No way he sits. He plays from day 1. He is that good.

I don't know what to tell you... sometimes it's real even without a bunch of oil money.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean?

But I don't think it's hard to grasp why we wouldn't want to loan him to celtic again...if he's not good enough for city right now, after 18 months in scotland, why would we send him back? He has nothing left to prove there. If he's so dead set on playing for celtic, then I'd like to see us sell him permanently (I really doubt we'd actually sell him, but city have bigger fish to fry than a promising attacking player who would rather go back to his comfort zone than prove his worth in the premier league).

There are a few possibilities for patty and city this season:
1. We keep him around in the squad, and he carves himself out a role in the team
2. We keep him around in the squad, he doesn't earn enough minutes, so we loan him in January (preferably to a PL team, if not then to a team in a top European league)
3. We loan him out within the next couple weeks (once again, preferably PL team...)

Liverpool has almost all of the leverage 'cause Coutinho doesn't have a release clause. Liverpool might as well stand their ground this late in the summer transfer window. He can be sold in January (if they're out of the Champions League and a league title run isn't realistic) or wait until next summer.

Looks like Barca is going to splash $100+ million on Dembele from BVB anyway.

Then again, you could give Coutinho away for a 40% premium right now with that Neymar money...

I don't think Klopp would want to keep him if he doesn't want to be there. You don't want to keep bad apples(distraction in this case) in your basket no matter how good that apple might be (see Balotelli) and Klopp knows that... Besides, Coutinho doesn't strike me as the kind of player that would go on strike. If somehow he does, avoid the nuisance, take the money and buy someone else that wants to be at Liverpool. It's going to be enough money to buy someone with similar quality. That said, I realize that all this must happen quickly. We'll see I guess...

It sounds like nothing will happen unless Coutinho pulls a VVD and burns bridges, but I have seen no indication he has any intention of doing that this window. I think we'll hold on to him for this season, then sell him amicably next summer.

I hope so and I have been hesitant to jump one way or the other for fear of all the uncertainty. Like I said before it was mainly Spanish press and British rags reporting with ESPN claiming inside info from Coutihno's Brazilian camp. The Liverpool Echo isnt reporting anything like this and neither are Sky or BBC still.

Again I would love to have my guys be wrong on this one...lol

Guys, there are more important things than transfers and the impending start of the Premiere League:

FC Cincinnati sold out Nippert Stadium for the Open Cup semifnal against NYRB in 7 hours of public sale time. Would have been quicker if their ticket system didn't crash.

Season ticket holders purchased their tix for the match at a 140% rate. That means almost everybody bought additionals.

Sellout in the reconfigured stadium, without standing-room tickets, should be around 33k-34k.

C'mon Garber, you know you want these attendance figures in the MLS.

Ousmane Dembélé did not show up to Borussia Dotrmund training today and is not answering his phone.

He's also unfollowed the club on Twitter.

Appears that PSG and City could be taking a run at Alexis Sanchez again.

Coutinho is not being sold. This summer anyway.

Lmao eff off barca. Can't believe i used to like those jabronis.

LOL...why? Because they are going after a player they want? Welcome to the world of international futbol. Liverpool does the exact same thing to clubs smaller than them, like when they treat Southampton like their feeder club.

I root for Liverpool in the EPL so I feel for them, and I completely get why they'd keep him...kid is a stud. But I don't get why their fans would hate the bigger club for going after him, when 'Pool does the same thing to other clubs. "The game is the game."
