City playing some exciting football!

I actually laughed out loud watching this. It's like LVG 6.0

I like it. Brendo needs a keeper that can pass the ball, and Gordon cant.

Andre Ayew to West Ham.

Great signing, imo. His energy on the right wing opposite Payet's skill on the left ... tasty. I was underwhelmed with WHU's off-season, until now.

LOL at anyone taking pre-season highlights with anything other than a giant grain of salt. And LOL at anyone with Jose as their coach calling another team boring.

Pep will have them ready, no doubt. To some it's boring soccer, but not to me. I could watch his teams all day long. And it wouldn't be so "boring" if teams would actually get out of their bus and actually play them.

Uh... I was commenting on their style. Yes it's a friendly, but their style is their style.

The boring Jose thing is a myth. He parks the bus against far superior teams so he can win. His teams attack when they should.

Would make sense. Spurs are eyeing Pau Lopez from Espanyol and Vorm is kind of sneaky old turning 33 in a couple months. Thought we'd hang on to Vorm for another year while we ride Lloris (also sneaky old) hard for another couple years but Spurs also like Luke McGee an academy keeper who's not super young anymore.

Nice signing by Adidas, err I mean, Manchester United.

£89,000,000 world-record transfer fee or roughly $116,000,000.

Probably a good time to point out that Adidas pays United $128 million per year to make their kits.

Myth??? Were you in hibernation the entire second half of the EPL two years ago (and the first half of last year, for that matter)? Sorry, but something is massively wrong when you have the $$$ of Chelsea and you spend like they do, and yet you still feel the need to park the bus EPL teams in order to win the league - and no, there were no 'far superior' teams to that Chelsea team that year. And while you were asleep (rightfully so), I clearly remember the snooze fests against QPR, Palace, West Ham and others. It's one thing to have bad games, but it's quite another to play extremely boring, defensive soccer the way his team did against inferior opponents.

Not saying he's a bad coach at all...quite the opposite in fact. But the man often plays boring soccer - far more boring than anything Pep throws out there. At least Pep, while maintaining possession, has an attacking (albeit patient) mindset. Not so for Jose all the time.

Wow, great game in LA but have to be fair, my Galaxy got away with TWO clear penalties in the last five minutes and came back from 2 goals down....

Yea man, that was pretty horrible. The first foul was a bit worse but, assuming a converted PK, 3-1 put the match to rest.

I'm with you. Jose is basically an Italian. It's boring to watch. I suffered through three years of Pep. It could be boring at times but Jose teams are unbearable.

My favorite coach has been Jurgen ever since I first saw Dortmund. Still a Bayern fan but I loved the aggression.

John Stones to City for world record fee for a defender, nearly £50 million.

Look at the results from that season. The turning point in that season was giving up 5 goals to Tottenham. That's when Jose went into his defensive shell because he saw vulnerabilities.

Before that game:

6 goals against Everton
4 goals against Swansea
3-0 over Villa
2-0 over Arsenal
3-0 over Spurs

That game happens, and every game following was 1-0, 1-1, etc.

Stones has been one of my go to 'cheap' options in FIFA for a number of years now... those days are gone... heck I remember when I could buy Hazard for like nothing and nobody else knew who the heck he was.... obviously those days are long since over...

That's what he does. It's sad to watch.

A number of transfer dominoes about to fall, it looks like. Everton will use some of the Stones money to make an improved bid for Palace's Yannick Bolasie, and Palace will use the Bolasie money to make an improved bid for Benteke from Liverpool.

Then I'm praying Liverpool will use the money to buy a defensively responsible left back ...

Yes, PLEASE.

I think the plan might have been to use Klavan as the defensively responsible left back, but with Sakho and Matip hurt he has had to play exclusively CB, and anyway I think we need another true fullback.

£20M for Jonas Hector? If the Benteke sale goes through I say pay it.

Stones is good but City shouldn't have paid for him what they did. English talent is so overpriced.

You changed positions smoother than a politician. :eek:grin:

First, Jose only played defensively against "far superior" competition, and now it was because of the 5 goal loss to Tottenham.

Like I said, it wasn't because of vastly superior competition, because QPR, Palace and West Ham weren't even in the same stratosphere as Chelsea that season. He often times plays a boring style of soccer, despite the talent level at his feet. And it's vastly inferior to Pep's squads IMO, because at least Pep always has an offensive (albeit patient) mindset. That's not the case with Jose.
