I HATE Costa, but I thought it was a clear foul. He got clipped, just enough, to cause an imbalance when running at full speed. Embellished or not, he was clipped, and it was absolutely foolish for Per to go ground there and give the ref something to think about, foul or not. You give up a goal there, you are down 1-0 with over 75 minutes to play (inc injury time), with one of the top offenses in the country, at full strength.

Instead, he slides and takes out any possibility of a Diego miss and the ability to play 11 on 11. It was stupid. And notice how Per didn't say a word? He simply walked off, knowing he fucked up.

I was just amazed that Per would do that. He's considered the cool customer between himself and Kos. Would have thought he would try to just "run with him" and look to clear a miss/deflection. (I say that in quotes since we know Per isn't very mobile)

I think it was just a horrible miscalculation by Per. It looked like if he stretched out fully he had a chance of getting the ball. He just didn't make it there. Like everybody, he's getting a little older and slower and he just misjudged it, in my view.

I'm not sure I agree that it wasn't worth the risk though. I think you gotta take a stab there and hope for the best.

It was funny watching the replay, just as Per was going down he looks over his right shoulder, hoping to see another defender within range to keep him from a red card.

Either way, touch or no touch, I thought it was horrible play by Mertesacker, not only his tackle attempt, but his defensive positioning that led to the break. I felt like he deserved what he got and I wasn't really upset with the call.

Getting a red card that early felt like he conceded the game right there, instead of giving up the goal and fighting on.

Matt Miazga of RBNY just left the USMNT camp early to head to England for a physical. It looks like his transfer has gone through and he will either be playing next for Leicester or Chelsea. I'd prefer Leicester. I think he has a chance to contribute there rather quickly and probably play Champions League football next year.

Looks like Chelsea swooped him.

they will probably send him to one of their farm teams no?

They are definitely looking to fill the hole once Terry is gone. I would guess they will loan him out for the remainder of this season. With Zouma, Cahill, Ivanoic, and Azpilaqueta they are pretty much covered right now. If they dont send him on loan, that might mean they are going to start taking Terry out of more matches and slowly work in Cahill and Miazga together.

Nope. He is their fourth CB right now and Cahill wants out apparently. Terry on his last legs. He is in their immediate plans, at least until the summer.

This is not your typical American player. Along with Christian Pulisic, Gedion Zelalem, Emerson Hyndman, and Cameron Carter Vickers, Miazga has extremely great upside. He was one of the best defenders in MLS this past year and at just 20 will only continue to get better.

Regardless of his success, it is cool to have a Yank born and bred here so highly sought out and gotten by an elite EPL club.

Looks like Chelsea is going to get Pato. And they're making a bid on Vardy. What madness this transfer is.

So De Bruyne is out for around 10 weeks. This pleases me. Great player. Upset he left Bundesliga though....and for City...ugh.

Very curious to see what happens with Liverpool and this Teixeira guy. Don't know much about him. Apparently another attacking midfielder? We seem to have plenty of those. Makes me think that maybe Klopp is looking to get rid of some dead-weight in that part of the team. Seems like he bangs in goals at a very good rate. I don't care if its the Ukraine or not. I trust Klopp. YWNA.

Christian Pulisic debuts for Dortmund today in the Bundesliga coming on as a sub for 25 minutes and looked instantly dangerous and was taking on defenders 1 on 1. The hype is now justified.

I had the game on when it was halftime of the Arsenal game. He was very dangerous right away. The stage did not seem to bother him at all. Very promising for the future. Also did you see that own goal that was waved off on Dortmund?! Very lucky.

Few Thoughts:

1. Come on Leicester! If they can't do it, I'd like Arsenal to win the Prem. I like Wenger and it'd be great to see him win again for the sake of all the haters.

2. Liverpool, great to see them win. Is it a coincidence that they've put up 6 goals in Sturridge's last two starts? Probably. Don't get me wrong, I've long given up hope of him staying healthy for good and for Top 4 this year. But if they can find a way to keep him healthy long-term, but if they can keep him on the field 2/3 or 3/4 of the time, they can be very dangerous. Summer window is going to be very exciting to see Klopp keep forming his team.

3. It's fun to watch United do poorly, especially relative to the amount of money they spend.

4. Holy hell It's tough for Bayern right now. Badstuber, Boateng, Martinez, Benatia all hurt. I think they are probably the best team in Europe(and have been for years) but the injuries...oof. They have their hands full with Juventus coming up.

Agreed on Sturridge. He's a world class talent when healthy. For me, the main thing was getting Coutinho back. He's perfect fit for Klopp's high tempo. He's going to make people miss and create numbers on the counter attack a lot.

Coutinho is a great player for us, but look at how much better he is when Sturridge is in front. He makes those runs no one else does and opens up tons of space for Cou to operate in. Cou is still a good player for us, but he's even more effective when he has Sturridge in front of him.

Yea, it helps for sure. He's better with any striker not named Benteke i guess, haha. Made a great pass to Origi yesterday. I hope that Danny Ings gets a chance to play in this system. He could be outstanding.

Benteke is the worst for how we want to play. Origi makes better runs and has pace, but he's not Sturridge. Any of our strikers aside from Tekkers is an upgrade. If Ings didn't go down I think he would've done very well. He has pace, and was always in the right place to get the tap in. He'll do well for us. I don't want to offload someone so quickly, but I don't see Benteke in our future. Keep the three we have and add another, hopefully around Sturridge's quality. We need a winger and possibly a true DM, though Can, Hendo, and Milner seems to be pretty good.

----------------------------------Sturridge/Origi/Ings

----------------Coutinho/Ibe---------------------------Firmino/Markovic

------------------------Hendo/Allen------------Milner/Lallanna

--------------------------------------Can/Lucas

---Moreno/Smith-----Lovren/Skrtel------Matip/Sakho--------Clyne/Flanno

We can play a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 with our current personnel. It doesn't look that bad, so if we can add some quality, it appears we have depth for cups and EL.

Looks pretty strong to me. I think the most important thing is Klopp having time to work with these guys. Assuming his recovery is going well, I would add Joe Gomez to that defensive mix. He is very promising. The feeling is that Allen might be gone over the summer. I don't know, I guess we'll see. Some of the youngsters have looked decent at midfield: Stewart, Brannagan, Chirivella. Also, looking forward to see what Grujic and De Souza can do. It will be interesting to see the kind of business we do over the summer. Matip, in my opinion, is a super coup on a free. Young, big, strong and has pace. I'm very excited about that one. We need better defense, and can we get Ward to start a damn game haha?

What a performance by the Reds last night. Lallana at his best is so dangerous.

A front four of Sturridge, Lallana, Coutinho, and Firmino is absolutely terrifying if they are playing well, with Can and/or Hendo and/or Milner behind them. Tough group.

Interesting and exciting times coming up for the Reds with the summer transfer window coming up.

I'm pleased with them, we need some pace though. We'll be getting a winger this summer no doubt.
