Against all odds, the boys in hoops rise up and win their opener in Scotland... Such epic quality.

On a side... I know its St Johnstone and all, but it's opening night and the home stands are maybe just over half full,... Geez, scottish football has fallen so damn far.

It's truly a terrible league. It's got Celtic and no one. Rangers getting liquidated killed the league. Even if they are back next year it will take a while to get top of the SPL quality back. Rangers and Celtic should go to League 2 and work up to the Premier League. Or just Celtic because fuck Rangers.

Celtic should apply to the lowest possible entry of English football just to get a foot hold...

Scottish championship has Hearts, Rangers, AND Hibs this year... Watch the champ. Out draw the prem. league minus Celtic this year.

Yeah they should just consolidate the SPL to the fourth of fifth tier of English football. Celtic would work its way up to the Championship in the minimum amount of time, while it might take a few more years to make it to the EPL. But I can't really see any other club besides maybe Rangers ever making it past League Two or League one.

Would love to see Celtic go EPL and try to rise up the ranks. I can't bring myself to watch the SPL.

It will never happen. Blatter just straight up does not understand the climate for places like Toronto, Chicago, New England, and New York.

I think eventually Celtic would be a top 7 or 8 side in the Premier League...They have the pedigree, history, electric European match and home match stadium..They just do not have the league. If they made the switch to the PL..They would be fine. I would have the same line of thought for Glasgow Rangers, but just not as successful, but a perennial PL team.

You can't tell me that these squads are no better the Sunderland, Villa, Leicester..etc

As for Hibs, Hearts and others... a Championship level squad would be the goal with periodic promotion followed by prompt relegation...

The SPL is rubbish..hate to say it...Love Hoops but a 12 team, lackluster league does not cut it anymore.

Rangers cheated , tax cheats . Hearts have been sent down .

God bless Fergus McCann . Would enjoy the Hoops going into the EPL .

Mon the Hoops .

I don't think anyone thinks celtic wouldn't be a top epl team once they were to settle in... Right now they'd be mid to low table... But they have everything needed but the league yo be up there with any English squad long term...

Agree with the rest also, I hate rangers but typically, they'd be right there also

This was an awesome day of soccer. Got up at 6:30, watched the pre-game show, Swansea v. United, Everton v. Leicester, Arsenal v. Crystal Palace, and Seattle v. Salt Lake. 10 straight hours of soccer, not counting the half hours between games.

Champions League groups drawing is occurring right now. Some of it is absolute BS. Manchester City is paired with Bayern Munich for the third time in four years, and the year they were not paired with them they had Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in their group.

Liverpool, Real Madrid, Basel, and Ludogorettes. I will take this. Not much travel distance either.

Chelsea's draw is pretty brutal too.

Oh, and F' Man City.... ;)

Ha. What did you think of Monday's game? Liverpool looked the better side, IMO. They are just still gelling with all the new acquisitions.

I loved Emre Can's energy in midfield, despite the terrible flop. I'd like to see him start as the other supporting midfielder next to Gerrard.

They need to shake up the attack, which was stagnant for long stretches. Didn't like Coutinho hanging back as a glorified fullback; they need his creativity forward. But of course things will change with Balotelli in the fold. Curious how that will play out.

Anyway, you gotta like Liverpool to advance out of that group.

As for Chelsea, maybe not such a tough draw if Manchester United keeps poaching Sporting Lisbon players ... got Rojo a week or two ago and now after Carvalho, I just read.

I could not watch that game due to work. I heard that Liverpool looked good overall but I don't think Sturridge is good by himself up front. Very excited about all the signings and I hope that GJ does not play any more. What a liability....Unsure about Balo. He could be very good but I am in wait and see mode regarding his antics.

I do like Liverpool advancing, maybe even beating RM at Anfield.

Agreed and agreed.

Johnson's leg better be broken. He limps off after Liverpool has already made 3 subs while Moreno and Skrtl, also hurt, gut it out. smdh.
