That is two star u20 players the US has now at Borussia Dortmund to go along with Junior Flores. Even knowing that some of this young talent won't pan out, it won't matter because there is soooooo much more than the US has ever had.

Edit: well I guess he is a little young for u20, but you get my point.

Joe Gyau recently moved to Borussia Dortmund too which was a little random because he wasn't getting much if any playing time over at Hoffenhiem.

Man, if we can have a guy getting minutes for Bayern Munich and a guy getting minutes for Arsenal next year with both being under 21, I will be sooooo happy. If Arsenal's new jerseys didn't suck I would have considered getting a Zelalem one.

Let's get him!! He's been killing it lately.

Dwyer is good and his selfie celebration was hilarious.
IDK if this is for all players but Dwyer is from England and has to have residency in the USA for 5 years to qualify for dual citizenship in the US. IS that right? It does not seem right.
He received his green card in 2012, once he was drafted by Sporting Kansas City. He would have to have to wait five years from that point -- 2017 -- to meet FIFA's residency requirement and be eligible for the U.S., but Dwyer said the idea of playing for the Yanks is intriguing.

He would be 28 by the time he would be eligible.

Yeah, he just got his green card in 2012, and there's a 5 year clock. My brother and I were talking about it because he's worried an international team may take interest, and that could screw up his eligibility for the USMNT. I think though that he could play on loan, maintain residence in the US and still qualify in 2017. Or there HAS to be a loophole somewhere.

While 28 is a bit old, he'd still be young enough to give us a boost in 2018. Besler will be 31, and I still think he has a shot at making the team, if not starting and playing the first 45-70 each game.

I don't want to sound like 28 is old which it is not and that should be his prime as a defender too, but can he play for the USMNT in friendlies and such prior to 2017?

Yeah I don't know. In this article, his quotes make it sound like 2017 is the earliest anything could really get rolling, but others on the board may know better.

Dom Dwyer for USMNT? Sporting KC forward: "Something every player would love to do" | MLSsoccer.com

“If the offer ever came to me, I think it would be a difficult one to say no to,” he said. “I'm from England, born and raised there, but I've been in the US for quite a few years and have a lot of love for this country and enjoy being here.

"But I don't know where I'll be in 2017. You don't know where you'll be tomorrow. So you have to just kind of take it as it comes, and if the opportunity comes – I'm not sure if [England manager] Roy Hodgson's going to be calling me any time soon,” he joked. "So we'll just have to wait and see.”
