Mark May does not like Notre Dame but he respects Kelly and he will not be stupid-they are about to change the win loss column bigtime.

Not sure that May doesn't like ND. I think a big part of his somewhat anti-ND approach is that he's paired with Lou and has to serve as a counter-balance to Lou's ND love-fest. Generally, I think May's a good, honest analyst and calls it like he sees it, and is usually pretty much spot on.

Except for last year when he picked ND to lose 12/12 games during the regular season.

But as you said, I'm sure it's all planned as an "answer" to Lou. I just wish they would leave the "Mark vs. Lou" thing out when it comes to game predictions.

I hate to say it, but this is probably true. I'm not sure if May generally calls it like he sees it all the time, however. I think he relishes the "bad guy" roll whenever he can, and loves to stir up hornet nests with large fan bases. Anything to poke the bee hive and cause a stir. In real life, off camera, I believe May has visited Notre Dame with Lou and had lots of good things to say about Notre Dame. TV personality is one thing, real life is another.

He hates on OSU more than he hates on ND lol, it's well deserved.

I was at the 2006 ND v tOSU Fiesta Bowl, where they presented Mark May as a College Football HOF inductee. They introduced each of the inductees at the different New Years Day bowl games that year. I have never heard a stadium so loud. The boos were incredible. I still wonder what May did to piss off the guy who decided which bowl he was presented at. He had been hating hard on both teams, all year long. You could not have picked a more hostile crowd for him.

It was great!

http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/esp...f-college-football-final-new-trio-to-be-named

ESPN will reportedly name a new trio for the much-maligned program that once featured Rece Davis hosting fake grade school courtroom debates between May and Lou Holtz. But with Holtz retired and Davis promoted to hosting College GameDay, ESPN has finally (thankfully) decided to go in a brand new direction for the show. Adnan Virk will host and be joined by analysts Danny Kanell and Joey Galloway. The trio will appear on both ABC and ESPN for halftime and postgame coverage.

I'm going to miss Lou. His presence was a positive for Notre Dame despite the homerism. The foolish sounding board presence of Mark May allowed this to be effective, plus the fact that Lou's on-air persona was likable. Kanell will not be an anti-ND presence but Galloway could be. We'll have to see --- and there's nothing to be done about that anyway.

This may sound strange but I am kinda happy Lou is done with ESPN. Now I can cut the cord entirely for everything but the games.

That is a pretty good decision it seems. This Mark May thread was started in '11 and has less than two full pages! Must be some kind of record. May may be the sportscaster most fans are apathetic about, beyond the sheer haters!

joey galloway? dear god..

This is an upgrade over the old crew. There will be fair analysis for ND now. Thank goodness. It was either "Notre Dame sucks", smug fucking faces and comments from Rece and Mark or "Notre Dame will the National Championship " from Lou. Im glad they made this change.

Adnan is great

Danny K is good in my opinion..he is on svp a lot which i don't mind listening to him...he seems fair to me most of the time and he seems to be in tune w/ the teams

Joey-well he is ok...certainly better than May...

Galloway could be an upgrade to May, but no way does Kanell bring the same level of football knowledge to the table as Lou (schtick aside).
