This thread won't be for everyone, but I'd like to compile a comprehensive list of negative comments, stories, etc in the week leading up to the game. If you get all worked up over this sort of thing, go ahead and sit out.

*Post whatever you can find!

ESPN:

How is ND going to win with that Golson kid playing QB???? He is terrible.. I saw a ND special on ESPN and Coach Kelly was talking to him the way you talk to a 4 yr old trying to tie shoes for the first time. That kid is soft with no talent or confidence. I can Guarantee we will be seeing Tommy boy when its time for the 2 minute drill.

The ESPN magazine Editor did an interview a few weeks ago and admitted they had an entire issue ready to print specifically dedicated to the irrelevance of Notre Dame Football at the start of the season and decided not to publish it. An entire issue. Oh how I wish they woulda.

An entire issue of irrelevance...isn't that kind of an oxymoron?

Exactly haha these guys have relevance screwed up in their heads in their minds everyone minus Alabama is irrelevant

Trust me, ESPN treated us the same way until Saban arrived. We were their favorite whipping boy for about 10 years. Unfortunately, we made it easy for them and deserved a lot of it. Probation, a string of bad coaching hires, unrealistic expectations, mediocre results, etc. made us an easy target and they blasted us on a regular basis. They may love us now, but we remember when they didn't. You've gone from being irrelevant in their eyes to them not being able to say enough good things about you and tripping over themselves to show you some love. Winning makes it all change.

This yes

Irrelevant...never was, never will be.

Mediocre football team over the last decade, fair.

The page has turned.

Isn't it a great feeling? Win or lose next week, you're back. Not just for a season, but fully back, I think. We know exactly how you felt during your years of mediocrity and how you feel now. You're us 4 years ago. Welcome home, brother.

Thought this interchange on ESPN pretty much sums it up:

Bamagasm
I don't think I can say it enough...I hate Notre Dame.

I remember ESPN saying during one of our coaching searches that no top coach wanted the Bama job and that it was no longer a desirable job due to the interfering boosters, unrealistic expectations, unsupportive admin, and the long shadow of Bear hanging over it all. They were probably right to a great degree. Saban and Moore changed that, though. Saban demanded total control of the program, told the boosters to shut up and stay away, was big enough to embrace the tradition without being intimidated by it or Bear's legacy, and Moore backed him 100% all the way. The results speak for themselves.

ND and Kelly have carved out their own version of this over the past couple of years and where you are now is the result.

I recall ESPN regularly crushing Bama. Then they got a contract with the SEC. The Trojans have been their fair haired boy for a long time. Can you imagine the scandal if ND or a pre-contract Bama had the Reggie Bush scenario? I have said it before, ESPN is what's wrong with sports. They on the verge of ruining college football. Mark my word, they will destroy Texas before too long because of the Longhorn network. I am not sure why USC is so high on list. If it weren't for the Big 10 network Urban Meyer and OSU would be rammed down America's throats. May happen anyway because of their man crush on Urban. Who, by the way, should have been implicated in the Cam sweepstakes.

^What you said^

ESPN has it's good side, but they remind me of a fickle, lovestruck 14-year-old girl. One day they're totally in love with you and you can do no wrong. The next day they've moved on to the next amour du jour and you're their whipping boy. We're both on their dating list right now. Stick around. That will change soon enough.

Just heard on ESPN during the Vandy /NCST game that James Franklin's final coach's poll was in this order:

Alabama
Georgia
Florida
ND
3 more SEC teams in top 8.....

There were only 2 other coaches who had ND ranked at#2 and one of those was Tommy Tuberville....

James Franklin just lost any respect I had for him.

SEC-Dominant
One of the premier wins for ND this season is getting beaten by Georgia Tech. Laughable. I will say again...ND has no business on the field with Alabama.
2 fans like this.

Yeah, the SEC is a joke....

Sounds like someone is upset that ND has been irrelevant for 20+ years

Last time ND beat an SEC school in a bowl was 1992!!!
