Why even make a WWI game if it's going to play exactly the same as Modern Warfare? People like to bitch that Battlefront was a generic game with a Star Wars skin, but that clip makes me more sure than ever that Battlefield 1 will be nothing but a generic game with a WWI skin.

They are all skins of each other haha.

When I was watching that video and noticed the objective meter, I realized that I was watching SW Battlefront, just with a bolt-action rifle instead of a T-21B, and on Earth instead of Tatooine.

That was the biggest criticism for SW Battlefront, like you said... it was just a skin of Battlefield. And now you've seen that clearly lol.

I never denied that. But, having never played Battlefield, it didn't bother me. If you play all the games, clones will annoy you. I only play one, so I pick the Star Wars one.

But I've 100% abandoned it and I'm all-in on Overwatch. It's lit, fam.

I regret getting rid of my XB1. Really poor planning on my part. It felt like a chore to fire it up and play games, but it turns out that I should've just waited for the games that would save the day.

Now I have to switch to PS4, that way I *sort of* have an argument when I explain to my wife that I'm dropping cash on another new system, as we await the impending arrival of our first baby no less haha.

My theory is that I'm too good for the low-level console plebs so they don't know what to do with me. I'm only level 8 and I keep getting put in matches with people in the mid-20s. The CoD people aren't as savvy as PC gamers so you see a lot of people on console who run around like idiots playing TDM. Anyone who actually plays their character like they're supposed to is very successful in the early levels.

Once I realized that I was garbage at aiming, I found a sweet spot with Lucio, Torbjorn, Junkrat, and Roadhog.

Roadhog is so damn fun. His ultimate is the most satisfying in the game IMO. I can't figure out how to play Lucio to save my life. I love having a good one on my team though. Nothing like being a tank and having Lucio help you ZOOM straight to the objective. I typically roll Mercy if I play support. Her pistol is surprisingly useful and people underestimate it's DPS when they try to rush me.

Babies are way less expensive than people will have you believe. Buy all your shit secondhand and breastfeed.

In order to appreciate Lucio, you need to come to terms with the fact that you're not going to get many kills. His projectiles are pretty slow moving, so I usually spam the choke point from a distance and hope that an enemy peeks his head out by the time it gets there. I don't really use the secondary gun for fighting, just for escaping when I get trapped in a room with a Reaper or a Soldier 76. The support role is pretty straightforward... speed boost to the objectives then follow your tanks around and heal them from a safe distance.

Seconded, kids are a cost, but my wife and I both kind of laughed at how much less of an impact they were compared to what we were preparing for/fearing....

Good breakdown of Microsoft vs. Sony E3 presentations from TotalBiscuit. His position is that Sony's presentation was more exciting and impressive than Microsoft's, but that Micosoft's will prove to have the greater long-term impact. Sony's presentation "fired up the base" by showing some great games for their existing PS4 user base, but that it's unlikely to win them any new customers. Microsoft's generation-breaking approach with Scorpio and their embracing of PC through Play Anywhere could have much broader implications for the entire industry.

Arguments about the reliability/accuracy and rate of fire of a WWI sniper aside, this looks *FIRE EMOJI* *FIRE EMOJI* *FIRE EMOJI*

Overall look/feel looks good enough but the gameplay shown in that video turns me off... again, I'll be all in if there is a significant offline story or any kind of splitscreen mode with intelligent bots. I have zero interest in running around crazy with a bunch of prepubescent strangers online.

We get it, Camp. You have no friends.

I have friends, but they all have PlayStations. So I basically have no friends.

The level of graphical fidelity we're getting to makes me uncomfortable at times. Like I want to play this, but I know for a fact my grandfather (tank commander in WWII) would consider it an abomination.

I think I view "bad shit" in gaming a lot like Ricky Gervais talks about the science of humor.

What do you mean? It is too realistic?

With any luck, they will get pounded on and quit playing or find a gameplay mode more appropriate for that.

On Red Orchestra 2(Stalingrad game, about 50% of players have bolt action rifle), the maps featuring a lot of trenches and stuff result in bad players(usually children) getting demolished by more tactical players.

Just a weird aspect of it for me. It's not something that actively stops me from playing, but there is a guilt I feel when looking at something this visceral and visually accurate when I know that I have relatives that fought in this stuff in the hopes I'd never have to do anything like that... and here I am playing an ultra violent glorification of war in my underwear. Again, it's not a big deal for me, and I will probably buy BF1 if it reviews well, but it's weird knowing that I have close relatives who would be disgusted at the gamification of war. Don't really know what my point is or if I even have one.

it's not call of duty... you have to play conquest the maps are about 10 times bigger than anything in cod. so people are more spread out and it's more strategic than cod

Only problem with this is I've played other BF games, and just watched that video...
