1.I think he'll be with us for at least 10 years.
2.Yes...I think up to 3-4 Championships.
3.He'd have to have a VERY big year for this to happen....It's very rare for WR to win.
4.Absolutely not.He'll be here a long while.
5.False.Winning brings in top recruits.
6.False.It's only just beginning!

1. 4 years (If/once he wins a BCS game i'll be his biggest fan and act like I supported him from day 1)
2. 0
3. No. Floyd is an awesome player, heisman material, but the team has to win for him to have a shot at the heisman. I mean 11-1 or better. All likelihood this is his last year at ND.
4. Covered in question #1
5. False
6. False

1. He could be here 20 years. Even if successful, I think he won't last more than a dozen years, maybe fifteen at the most. Even the most successful Irish coaches succumb to the pressure. It's demoralizing to their health. Leahy (four championships), Parseghian (two), Devine (one) all left early because of that constant pressure to succeed. Look what the pressure did to Charlie in just five years.

2. Depending on how long he stays here, I'd say one or two if here ten years, maybe two if a dozen, up to three if here fifteen years, and as many as five if here twenty years or more.

3. No. Not a chance.

4. False. Notre Dame's 2011 BCS run (possible championship game appearance?) will give him at least five more years on his contract. If he wins the title that year, he'll be given a lot of time.

5. False. The problem is not the talent, it's the coaching. And Brian Kelly has proven time and time again that he can coach recruits up to their full potential. The sky is the limit.

6. False. Kelly will turn this around. In the event that he does not, the program is in some trouble.

Bonus: Michael Floyd. He's already highly rated, he has had multiple injuries and may not want to risk any others, and there's the speculation that he's pissed about not getting the ball as often.

1. Coach Kelly will be here for 18 years.

2. 3 National Championships, 2 back to back.

3. Floyd will not but Kyle might just before before he's drafted in the top 15.

4. Are you on crack?

5. Not only will they, but they'll be an even larger academic-sports model university than
they currently are.

6. Not a chance, do me a favour and go tell that to Manti face to face.

7. (added) Mike Anello will have a child player for the Irish one day, sport undecided in
case of baby girl.

1 - 5 to 7 years max
2 - 1, if any at all
3 - No. Unless he has a monster, record breaking season (i.e. stays healthy).
4 - No
5 - I agree with NDOM, but year in and year out they won't be able to remain elite. They will have good years here and there, but the natural ebb and flow of teams will be magnified here, that's for sure.
6 - It won't be what it was, but things change. I don't think ND will go the way of the Northwesterns of the world or the Ivy League programs that used to be dominant, but I think the entire CFB landscape has changed and that will keep ND from being what it was in the past.

I think you're getting kinda soft in your old age, my brother. Your opinions have been pretty positive and upbeat lately. Even the one above was pretty benign for you.

1. I'll give him 10-15 years.
2. 2
3. No
4. No
5. I think they (the university) are loosening up some and want to become a football power again; i.e. training table, Ragone getting away with his marijuana possesion, and the overall direction the program has taken.

6. What exactly were the "glory years"? From 1887-1988 they wont 11 championships. thats about 1 a decade. From 1924 till 1988 they won 11.

1920's- 2 titles
1930's- 1 title
1940's- 4 titles
1950's- 0 titles
1960's- 1 title
1970's- 2 titles
1980's- 1 title
1990's- 0 titles (should have been 1, we got robbed)
2000's- 0 titles
2010's- ?
Will ND win 4 titles in a decade like the 40's? No. But those glory days are long gone. Can they win 1 a decade? Yes that is not a problem. 2? With a lot of luck, i think they can. I think between now, and 2020 BK will win 2. ND has this mystique of never being bad, they have had down years in the past. And it seems like the same questions comes up, Can ND win in todays football world? And they do. How bad was ND before Holtz? If ND wins, she will get the nations best players. ND has been bad and gotten great players recruiting.

They have had history of picking bad coaches, I think they found a keeper with BK. A proven coach whom has won EVERYWHERE!!!!

I am stunned that no one has faith that MF can pull the Heisman?? Is that b/c the team?? or a lack of faith in him???

I must have watched another Notre Dame over the last two years because in all my years watching, 1989 on, I have not seen a better talent wear a Notre Dame Jersey... Tate included easily.

I think the teams win/loss may hurt him but some have said Rudy could win it over him so obviously some here don't think it's the team... hard for me to grasp.

I think its too difficult for a WR to in a Heisman today; I think he'll be invited to NY but I can't see him winning.

Think of the other receivers that have dominated in recent years: Michael Crabtree, Dez Bryant, Golden Tate. All had incredible years and were not finalists at one point.

I am not convinced about his durability yet. He has had a significant injury each year so far that has cost him significant PT. It is tough for a WR in the Heisman race period, let alone one that doesn't play a full season. Floyd needs to stay healthy for a full season and put up some monster numbers each and every game. Then he needs to come in to LA at the end of the season and have a record settting game in a win at the Coliseum to have a shot.

Just my opinion. Heisman candidates can't be brittle and, so far, Floyd has been pretty fragile. Not knocking him as a player or not having faith in him, I just think he can't get hurt this season to have a shot.

One more thing: you may well be right in your opinions/prognostications. I just hope that ND can maintain its stature as a quality university with a quality football team without wallowing in the "relaxed academic standards" mud that is so prevalent in so many (cough, cough, ahem; we know who they are) programs.

I hear his inujry problems... and the fact that WRs usually can't win it... but to say aTE can win it then say Floyd can't and to say the dude just has no chance???... i personaly don't get it... will he win one???... I would answer no for any player in the country on pure percentages alone... but to play him down like he has no shot... yeah, file me under I don't get it.

1. HOW LONG? I believe that if BK is successful in his first three years he will last 11 to 12 years. This would enable him to pass Rockne as all time wins leader at ND. He has studied ND history and I think he would like to leave that as his legacy.

2.NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS? If #1 comes to be, then probably 2.

3. M. FLOYD HEISMAN? Not likely. He's a wide receiver, the team would have to likely win 11 of its regular season games and I believe there are too many voters with an anti-ND bias.

4. BK FIRED IN 4 YEARS? If #1 is true, then this is false.

5. ND ACADEMIC STANDARDS TOO HIGH? No.

6. GLORY DAYS DONE? If #1 is true, then this is false.

I agree with you about the Rudolph comment. If there is an Irish player that has a chance to be a finalist based on what we know at this point, then it would be Floyd.

Heisman winners come from teams that lose at most 2 games. ND has to go 10-2 this year for him to be in the discussion nationally. Is he talented enough to win the heisman, hell yes. Even if the team goes 10-2, in the spread system the QB gets alot of the credit (unjustly so, see Alex Smith for example) so a WR is going to have to be 'overly' spectacular to win the heisman. That means ND has to go 10-2 or better, and he has to make big plays in big games . ND doesnt have too many marquee matchups, so Floyd would have to have a strong consistant season, and he must have a MONSTER game against USC to put the capper on an end of the season game that is traditionally the biggest game of that weekend. Considering he doesnt return any type of kicks, I see all of his accomplishments being 'undercut' by the QB getting him the ball (he will share the spotlight with the QB, which will damage his heisman hopes). I think he cant win the heisman for circumstancial reasons, not because he isnt deserving, because the dude is a bonafide stud.

Carson Palmer followed that same mold, had a good season, and then a killer game against ND to make an end of the season statement to voters just before they cast their vote.

its entirely possible that Rudy will be gone after this season too. Is there a better TE in the country? I would hate to see him leave early, but Rudy and Floyd could be playing their last seasons at ND this year. If Floyd has a very little chance to win it, then Rudy virtually has no chance, for circumstantial reasons not because he isnt talented enough.

I remeber bothe Holtz and Ara saying tat ND is a 10 year job and that toward that point you feel the pressure from everywhere so much that you want to walk away. You guys really think Kelly can deal with the ND fanbase for 15-20 years?

No. There is no better TE in the country. I think he will be gone this season too and I don't think we will see an ND player even sniff the Heisman trophy for a few years. At leat not until ND gets a bunch of credibility back in CFB.

I think both Floyd and Rudolph are talented enough to be finalists this year, but neither will come close. I don't think they will get the recognition. It will take the Irish being undefeated at the 8 or 9 game mark and a player to have huge numbers before people will start to really take notice and then I think it will be too late to make a push in the voting.
