I hope Hendrix paid a lot of attention during the QB meetings so he can leap up to backup Everett.

Like it or not, Tommy probably saved us at least twice last season. We probably would have been 10-2 without his help at the beginning of the season. If anything I don't see any reason why he shouldn't remain the backup for his last year especially with Kiel gone.

Zaire will be a redshirt next year, no doubt about it. Hendrix has all the tools to be the starter in any other university so have him as a third QB is very fortunate.

But you have to consider all scenarios for 2014.

Golson: Heading to the draft? Doubtful but who knows.
Hendrix: I truly think he will leave the team searching one last chance.

We'll be fine next season, but maybe not in 2014. A Qb in the 2014 class is now an absolutely must.

For some reason I saw this coming the moment he signed his LOI. His whole recruitment process to me was like:

In fairness, he really hasn't had a legit shot at running the offense. Brady Quinn wasn't playing lights out until his Junior year. Clausen was given two years to blossom. Both of those guys were regular full time starters, gaining valuable experience while taking their lumps. Hendrix has only been in a handful of games and the only one he got extensive time in (Stanford two years ago) he looked like the best player on the team. I know that he's thrown a couple of dumb interceptions, but that's what inexperienced QBs do.

I think I have a better shot of winning the powerball than Golson going into the draft. It took him 3/4 of a season to gain a competent understanding of the offense, next season will have its ups and downs with him- he is not going to be playing on a level where he gets tempted by the NFL.

Regardless of Golson's ability, his size will keep him from leaving school early for the NFL. QBs under 6'2, let alone under 6', aren't in high demand.

I had a dream last night. A couple of issues were solved for me. Too bad I am not really clairvoyant! On the offensive line, Lombard moved to right guard and split time with Hanratty. Stanley moved into right tackle pushed by Elmer. Martin had left tackle behind him with his little bro or Elmer ready to back him. Hegarty, Harrell, and Hunter were one, two and three at center.

Alex Welch was a HUGE piece for '13 offensive production. Niklas continues to grow beast like at end, learning to block and run the fade, but Alex Welch brings out the soft hands he has yet to be able to unfurl, and that breaks most other offenses. Two TE's that can catch, as well as block. I see some really interesting possibilities with a guy like Massa or Hendrix, kind of H-Back stuff for a neophyte like me, but taking over the inside trap blocking that Eifert was set in motion for last year.

That makes having Folson, and Bryant in this class MAJOR because they are going to have one back sets, with a match-up problem already on the second tight end, and now you are going to be able to key a linebacker, hell, clear him out entirely, like we had some success against OK with last year. (Man I bet their fans are really not looking forward to them coming to SB this year!)

To review, I see us more athletic, (two deep) across the o-line, I see us overall better with tight ends, one will trail Tyler, but two and three will be vastly improved; and, I bet the Irish have a huge receiver package to put in. Daniels, Smith, Ferguson* and a couple of big tight ends. Oh and the running backs will be both more elusive and deliver a bigger punch.

(I purposely chose to not speak of the small fast guys any of whom could break out. And CBreezy is like less than a step away.)

I think Daniels is going to have a big year coming up. 2012 he was hampered by injuries, but we saw some good things in the BCS game. I'm hoping Neal does end up stepping up to a starting role, I think he could be a big play maker from us in a somewhat weak group of receivers.

TJ does have pretty good hands, but I don't think he gets open enough to utilize them, and he doesn't have the height/reach that guys like Floyd had so you can't throw the ball up for him. He may have tied Eifert in receptions last year, but all we heard at the beginning of the season was how Eifert was being utilized as a blocker more than a receiver. I'm a bit surprised Eifert ended up tying TJ in receptions given all that blocking he did. I think if Daniels would have remained healthy he would have surpassed TJ's numbers too. On the flip side, if Daniels has a great year, that could see TJ's numbers go up as defenses key on Davaris more.

Daniels - Neal - Jones is a solid WR lineup with a very high ceiling. There are few other programs with lineups that I'd trade for that one.

And we've got all the right sorts of role players behind those guys, too. They just need some seasoning.

His floor is probably a more dangerous Daniel Smith. Haven't seen anything that indicates he'll even be in the two-deep against Temple, but I hope you're right.

Not enough talk about Goodman on here. Did you know that Goody had 3 TDs in just 7 receptions? Thats almost a TD every other catch! Just sayin'. He also racked up 159 yards. Clearly our best receiver and we'll miss him the most.

Yeah, kidding aside, he did have some big catches though like the Michigan State game.

None of that is affected by his redshirting. He can take every practice snap with the 1s, and still redshirt. That was my point.

Oh, and the defensive side of my dream, they are going to bring Ishaq forward for more hand in the dirt. We are going to play a lot more four man fronts.

Danny Spond and Jaylon Smith have the skills to wander between a pass rusher and a drop back cover linebacker with db level skills. You are going to see a lot more disguise with the defense. And with Jones, Vanderdoes and Rochelle over the next two years, it gwen rellly fuk up som of dem qb's, they be needin' the plate number from the truck what rund 'em over, botf ofem. (Use your imagination to sound like someone concussed, slurring speach.)

It's difficult to make an accurate depth chart unless you're willing to slot certain players at multiple positions. Take the OL-- Stanley is probably the #2 OT, and Hanratty is probably the #2 OG/C, so listing those guys at only one position is a little misleading.
