Great hire. Didn't think this would happen in the beginning.

Former Miami Redskin, IU, SC & Chiefs RB Coach

Now get his 4*+ kids in South Bend.

This is a great hire regardless of whether either of his sons ever play a snap at ND. Big get for a first time head coach building some reach.

The TE coach is gravy at this point. The offensive room looks really good right about now.

Great hire by MF, I think this is a step up from Lance; and I think Lance was well liked.

“However, sources tell FootballScoop that Notre Dame officials are optimistic that McCullough will remain with the Irish, despite at least a second offer within the past month to return to the NFL.”

We live in a simulation where someone is playing a ND 2021 - 2022 offseason game.
Damn it, you can't change jobs more than once in an offseason of NCAA Football '14 on PS3!
Maybe this is why his sons didn't join him.

I’ll be happy when all these coaching changes are settled and we can concentrate on football!

Figures. This is the Freeman hire I'm most geeked about.

I’d say his boys being in college may help us out here. Especially if they end up in South Bend.
Yeah he quit the Chiefs to go back to college ball for a reason. I suspect his kids were a big part of it. And even if they don't end up in South Bend, they're pretty close in Bloomington.

not sure exactly what she's saying here, but im choosing to be optimistic and assume she thinks the source is dumb.

Yeah I didn’t understand in the slightest what she meant by that when I saw it

This is all very confusing.

But. Has he formally been hired/announced at Notre Dame? Or is this one of those where the eternal vetting process might bite us in the ass? I notice there is zero Notre Dame content on his Twitter feed, which simply describes him as "in transition."

He has not been formally announced but it was reported that he was accepting the position at ND.

This is amazingly good and surprising news! I wonder what his reasoning was?

It looks like ND hit the lotto with this hire.

SOURCE: Deland McCullough had an opportunity to become a top-paid RB coach in the NFL w/ the Giants, and working with Brian Daboll was tempting but he's staying at Notre Dame. He came back to college to position himself to be a head coach and believes success at ND will do that.
