A P5 win on the road is always good. A win over a blueblood on the road is better. Covering against a blueblood on the road when your expected to and need it to keep the talking heads and selection committee happy is sadly a must. It's best if the Irish cover but don't think for a second that this game isn't circled after last year's Malikapalooza in South Bend.

Def. I just have a feeling they will be more motivated than ND. ND is the better team, but Texas will come out hangry (hungry and angry)!

Well Coach Strong is sure motivated, but that team is young. I think I heard that they might be starting up to 4 true freshmen that game. I think it's a win, but it won't be anything like last year. My prediction as of now: ND pulls ahead in the 4th, but Texas fights the entire game.

Texas is going to be more hungry and angry than ND? Um, no. If they were more talented, then we would have a problem. Kelly is not going to have any problems getting the guys focused for this one. They're not playing some pud team in BFE. We roll, just like last year.

Georgia State hired Shawn Elliott, former co-OC at S.Carolina, as their new head coach on Dec 3. At that time, Georgia State had twelve verbal commitments. Committed recruits wondered whether they still had scholarship offers. Starting on Dec 14th, the decommitments began with seven on Dec 21&22. Since the new HC was hired, Georgia State has had nine decommitments.

Georgia State now has totals of four verbal commitments and eleven decommitments from the Class of '17.

Ocoee CB Dorian Jones decommits Georgia State after not hearing back from new coaches

"I talked to Coach Elliott on the phone about three weeks ago when he first got the job," Jones said. "He said they were going to do some reevaluations when they got the new D-coordinator and defensive backs coach and he said he'd be getting back to me.

"But then I saw on Twitter that like seven other guys had decommitted and so I was kind of confused. I still hadn't heard back like two weeks later and they were offering other corners and stuff. They had the corner spots full, so I knew something was up then. And, one of the other corners got his offer pulled so I tried to call one of the coaches to see if my offer was still solid, but I still haven't heard back from them."

So instead of waiting around even later in the process, Jones decided last week to open up his recruitment.

"I talked to my parents and [we decided] instead of being unclear about what was going on about whether I still had an offer or not, I should just open my recruiting back up just to be save and look at what other options I have," Jones said.

I see Minnesota is now up to #12 in the BIG. Not bad for a 14 team league.

I'd be going after some bigger fish in the .8500 - .8800 range first. Recruits in MN, IA, NEB WI, MO, IA, IL, IN, OH.

Use you new business card in combination with your current hype. Minn might not be a destination but the B1G is still the B1G. That's how Oregon St, Wash St and the AZ schools pull out of Cali.

P.J. Fleck, Minnesota's new HC, has now flipped eight of his verbal commitments at W. Michigan to his new gig. Two more today.

Fleck flips six commits his first day on the job

Minnesota now has twenty-three commits. W. Michigan is down to fifteen.

If I were a Gopher fan I wouldn't exactly be ecstatic that we were "flipping" WMU commits. I could see taking the top two guys but there is no way there are 8 WMU commits that should be on Big 10 roster.

Jhavonte Dean decommits from Alabama. Arizona State, Utah and Miami are among the likely landing spots.

I had a coworker try to tell me today that he doesn't like Notre Dame's chances in Austin. I'm still laughing.

hahahahahahaha

I think it's going to be a really tough game. I'd be happy to get out of there with a 3 pt win.

Sadly I was correct

I think it would be more of a game if we were playing them in the middle of the season. I don't see it being another blow out game like last year, but ND will get a W in Austin.

Minnesota averaged around one 4 star a class the last decade. They weren't exactly lighting it on fire. Let the man do his thing and see how it plays out.

Florida CB decommits from Tennessee after visit
The 5-foot-10, 182-pound (Brandon) Cross, who had been committed to the Vols since June, made his decision known less than 24 hours after wrapping up his official visit to Tennessee, which allowed him to meet new coach Jeremy Pruitt's staff.

"I Love the University of Tennessee With all My heart And Wouldn't Trade It For Anything BUT! Due To Coaching Changes Things Did Not go the way As Planned," Cross wrote in a note posted on his Twitter account. "I Would Like to (thank former) Coach Butch Jones For Believing In Me and (giving) me the Chance to Play At MY Dream SEC THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE."

Cross is ranked the No. 846 overall prospect and No. 76 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class.

FSU going in a different direction: Stacy Kirby decommits

Jones three-star defensive end Stacy Kirby has decommitted from Florida State, stating that the coaching staff intends to go in a different direction.

Kirby, who is ranked as the No. 36 weak-side defensive end in the nation, had been committed since February, when he popped during a Junior Day visit to FSU.

He had been a faithful commitment throughout and intended to sign early with the Seminoles on Dec. 20th. That is no longer the case.

Since the change from Jimbo Fisher to Willie Taggart as head coach, Kirby had not been visited by Taggart. Communication had also been lacking.

Nigel Bethel, WR/CB has also decommitted from Florida due to no contact from incoming staff.

College Football Recruiting: Jamarcus Chatman decommits from Tennessee

In Chatman’s case, it’s entirely possible that he didn’t fit the system of Jeremy Pruitt — who is expected to bring some form of Alabama’s 3-4 base scheme with him. Chatman is a 6-2, 258 pound strong-side defensive end. I’m just speculating here, though.

I wouldn’t be too concerned with losing three guys today. Pruitt had a really busy weekend, extending plenty of new offers to top talent across the country.

Decommitment list (above) updated with OVs listed.

Poaching

Willie Taggart, whose drawing power to Oregon was his recruiting connections in Florida, is about to flip a couple of previously Oregon verbal commits (Isaiah Bolden, CB and Warren Thompson, WR). Both decommitted after Taggart quit Oregon, are from the state of Florida and are four star recruits. They each had interest in FSU until Taggart convinced them to commit to Oregon.

Dan Mullen, ex-MsSt coach, has flipped the #2 ranked K from MsSt to Florida.

Players who are flipping and following the coach to his new school are bolded in the decommitment list (Post 77) above.

Also, Nigel Bethel, WR/CB from Florida, who was recruited by Randy Shannon, ex-Coordinator at Florida, may well be following Shannon to UCF. In this case, Bethel is a three star recruit, ranked as the 133rd CB. Bethel also has an OV scheduled with Miami.

Willie Taggart flips to Florida State, which recruits could follow?

Matt Corral, QB, decommits from Florida and commits to Ole Miss.

I would be shocked if we ever hear his name again. Kid needs an ego check. Wish nothing bad on him just saying Diva's rarely work out. Especially at QB

Mychale Salahuddin, #4 APB, has decommitted from USC. Movement on the RB front for them? Stepp visited this weekend. Corbin in January.

No RB now in this class with only Carr last year.

Updated with New Decommits, Signees, OVs, and Commits.

In general, the prospects who decommitted from schools after the HC left have gone on to other schools. Alontae Taylor is the sole exception, who has recommitted to Tenn but has not signed, although Oregon could bring Ezeike and Harrison back into the fold. FSU could bring back Green, too.

The only coach who has poached prospects who verbally committed to his former school was Willie Taggert with Bolden, Thompson and Lamar.

With so many players from Florida and two Florida schools having new HCs, it interesting to follow their decision-making for OVs and commits.

Speaking of Alontae Taylor, any chance to recruit him as a WR? He verballed to the Vols again but hasn't signed. My Spidey senses tell me we might be losing a deep threat.

Reportedly, Kane Patterson RB/ILB has decommited from Ohio State. He is a Nashville native and committed to OSU over Tenn and Alabama.

Clemson offered on August 5.
