They need to just tear it all down and start from scratch. BK obviously isn't the answer here, unless you're content getting annihilated on a national stage. If they have awards for squeeking thru mediocre schedules undefeated then ND would be on top of the world. The play calling tonight was atrocious, the gameplan sucked. Two times on 3rd and long we either ran the ball or threw lifeless screens, that's not okay. People that are over-matched and just got their lunch ate make excuses about the refs, or "if this play would've went out way"...don't you think 2 or 3 plays could've also shifted in their favor? The answer is yes. The bottomline is that we got embarrassed on every level, from the players to the coaches, we got beat before the game started in recruiting and game planning. I, for one, am sick of "next year is the year", and then we recruit the same mediocre 3 and 4 star guys that keep us in the middle of the pack with all of the other teams smelling Bama's direct butthole, nose first.
What’s your answer that’s better thanBK? Not trying to be a dick but honest question.

Luckily I don't have to make executive decisions, I get to just sit here and talk shit.

But in all reality, idk man, I don't know what the landscape will look like in terms of availability, or what coaches will be on the market. I'd be willing to sell my soul and go after Urban Meyer. Pay him whatever it takes, loosen some restrictions. Not to the level of a Bama or SEC affiliate, but to where ND is able to compete. BK is at the pinnacle of where he's capable of going. He is at 7000 RPMs and redlining. He hasn't landed a 5 star recruit in almost 6 years, and it's not from lack of offers, because we extend them every year. When your best guys are on par with the elite programs worst guys, the talent discrepancy is always gonna be too great. Bring in a young hotshot coach, we need to make runs at assistants from elite programs while there's still time, rather than being content with BKs mediocrity. Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is structurally as good as ND can get in the current CFP landscape, but damnit man shouldn't we at least make an exploratory effort?

Yep. Agree on all fronts. I guess I just sit and wait for things to get better the way they are. Then I see OU putting up 34 on a CFB titan. We had 3 against a team we thought we had a chance against. FUCK is all I can say

I am going for Alabama in the Natty. I don't like the glorification of this drug situation at Clemson. Even the offender standing on the sideline as a hero to his team mates etc seemed wrong to me. I mean if you had 3 guys done for academic cheating would the NCAA go in and investigate and strip wins or would they leave it up to the program to find an explanation.

The good news is a schitt show like today leads to a lot more posting of interesting material on this site. It got boring this year winning all the time. Only when we played average did we get some action here.

Alabama will be paying more in bonus money to its football assistant coaches and head strength coach (nearly $1.35 million so far) than 32 FBS public schools paid in regular compensation to their 10-man assistant coaching staffs this season.

Can you refresh my memory. What are you referring to here?

It's 2:38 in. I'm not here to say we woulda, coulda, shoulda, won. I'm saying the plays are similar and we didn't interfere in 2013. We got the fumble Tonight! Special Teams are very special, because they tend to give teams momentum.

Thank Ya tho, You just raised my blood pressure watching It again. BULLSHIT CALL!! You can hear him catch the ball for some reason now. It doesn't get called In any world other than ours.

If I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, Did I choose to? It may have been just where I was lying at the moment. Does the place I put my feet first thing in the morning, change my day? Not If I have a choice. We can't fight TWO fronts, and that is where we are at!
Shitty assholes make your underwear smell like poop.
Brian Kelly acted the same way tonight. I would have been 15 shades of grey. It borders on FRAUD and It'll only get worse with more gambling states.!

Not a frequent poster here but I tied one on, barely made it through the end of the game before dozing off.

Good first quarter, then the wheels came off. This "elite" defense couldn't bear the loss of three key components which is when Clemson's superior depth came into play. Everyone was talking about the three Clemson players being suspended and how that should benefit ND. BS. A lot of Clemson's second stringers are as good or better than ND's starters.

Book's performance was completely uninspiring and he got the jitters after being pressured so often. The OL couldn't run or pass block.

Long's playcalling sucked. No matter how many times it didn't work, he insisted on running it up the gut against a DL that was clearly superior to ND's OL. Calling draws on 3rd and long and refusing to mix it up. He needed to spread them out.

Drive killing miscues early, untimely penalties. This team clearly spent too much time reading press clippings.

I'm a masochist so I actually sat through the entire debacle except for the last minute when I decided to feed and then walk my dog. I was numb by halftime and didn't freak him out once by cursing.

Coaching in general, barf. What in the **** are you doing trotting an undersized sophomore TE out against that defense as an extra blocker? Have another OL report as an eligible receiver for chrissake.

I had a sneaking feeling that ND would lose days ago but I didn't think that would not only cover the spread but obliterate it. I thought it would come down to the fourth quarter, maybe one or two possessions but that illusion was obliterated after the first quarter.

I could go on and on. I'm not surprised ND lost but I figured they would show some gumption. Instead, they spent most of the game as Clemson's punching bag. I don't think I can bring myself to wear anything green for at least a month and I may take my "Shirt" from this year and toss it in my neighbor's firepit. "No breaking point" my a$$. The breaking point was the end of the first quarter.

Ah well. Wait until next year, then we can wait for another way for this team to destroy fans' hopes with copious amounts of napalm. It's what they've done for over a quarter of a century.

LOL@ at the punks on here who feel the need to neg rep people for voicing their opinions on here. Yeah my opinions were "negative" but guess what, the game was a shitshow. Yeah Andy in Sactown I'm talking to you. I don't think I've ever neg repped someone on here other than maybe an obvious troll or maybe someone in a political thread one time or something. What an assclown.

Loomis negged me twice. I had a meltdown. Now... I actually feel much better.

I hope Trevor Lawrence goes on to win the National Championship this year, but when he is 45 everyone who runs into him is calling him Deshaun Watson by accident.

What a depressing way to end such a fun season. I just don't see how we take this thing to the next level. Without some serious institutional changes this feels like our ceiling, which blows.

Better hope love comes back next year because I think it will be another year before you start seeing some depth being built at the corner position. Thank god we have two studs coming in

I enjoyed the season but knew this was the inevitable end, so I’m really not that upset. Just like life, you need to appreciate the good times because we all know how it ends. Usually badly.

I agree. It’s disappointing because that wasn’t the best ND football could do. Fumble by book with zero effort to recover it. Dropped passes that would have moved the chains or gave us 3 and shorts. The offensive game plan. I personally didn’t see but did Lenzy play? We heard this talk of speed so if you are going to running your mouth than put him in the game. Yes some of it has to do with themnhaving 6-8 five star players. We just have to understand we ain’t getting in that battle.

It was a good season but all season I still thought we were overrated. We barely beat Ball State, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh and Usc.

We absolutely did NOT belong in the playoff. I knew we would get blasted.

I can tell you one thing for sure.....we will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER be considered an elite team until we allow our academics to be lowered and we all know that just won't happen. Get over it people. And I guarantee Notre Dame will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER win another National Championship in our lifetime. It's almost been 32 years since the last one, what makes you believe we are on the brink.

We will always be a 8 to 10 win team with an occasional 11 or 12 win season. But we will ALWAYS get blasted against the big boys.

Pick a professional team where ethics are not an immediate issue and they win championships. Where the money is paid in full and no questions about developing complete student athletes are asked. Where the premium is placed solely on winning at the sport being played. Then be proud that you have one make-a-wish team you support, that is likely never going field the best physical/athletic talent and depth as the top elite teams, that tries to uphold old principles that we once valued as a society. We know what Notre Dame is about from a complete perspective, and if you’re not with that, then you can bounce. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
