That Bauer injury looked bad.

Awesome, I'm really glad to see that.

I was also convinced Tranquill had torn his ACL against Navy in 2018...

Awesome! Fingers crossed Hayes is ok. Definitely looked like Bauer got the worst of it.

Disagree. If you recall, the 1st game should have never gone to OT. The offense left quite a few points on the field -- I want to say at least 11 or so. That has NOTING to do with TL. If ND plays a clean game on offense and Lea does his thing on D, we can very much win this game, with or without TL. That said, does the O actually clean up their act? I'm sure Book won't be fumbling inside the 5 and Mayer won't have quite as many Frosh farts this time around...

Both offenses left offense on the field that night. So, this goes both ways.

It's foolish to think TL has nothing to do with the outcome of a game/any game he plays in. I'm not saying it will or won't be the determining factor but he matters. He's a needle mover. He could have a bad game, even the best do. But, when previewing a game, you're usually not going to assume that the best player on the field is going to be irrelevant compared to the guy that's not playing because of him.

I never said we couldn't. A close game seems in insinuate that, right? I expect ND to be very competitive but if I was betting (which I never bet against ND, bad luck), I'd bet on Lawrence playing like Lawrence has in a lot of these games. Which means the offense is going to have to score quite a bit to keep up. The combination of OL injuries and returning players in the front 7 for Clemson make it difficult for me to see the same type of success with regards to offensive output.

One very interesting injury situation for Clemson is middle linebacker. Their starter - Skalski - went out against Va Tech early in the game and didn't return. It wasn't anything new, just soreness from his previous groin injury. However, his back-up is Jake Venables and he broke his arm. Might be nothing, could be something...

A significant matchup difference from game 1 (Patterson versus Pickney/Bresee) to game 2 which will be Tyler Davis versus Correll/Lugg.

Early downs/Base defense, Clemson likes to lineup up their NT as a zero technique. Head up on Center. Traditional 3-4 front. Pickney started the game as the 0T and he then shared snaps with Bresee. Who is going to be a talent in time but just a true freshman and he was handled fairly easily. So they gain their best interior player and we are down the guy he'll be matched up against. Tough swap of personnel there.

Luckylucci - it's going to make a difference in run but pass rush too. The last place a QB wants pressure is up the middle. It's a double whammy that will be a big concern I think. Our coaches got to see both center candidates in live action and have two weeks to prepare, so at least we have time and some film.

Venables definitely out. Skalski came out of the game due to "soreness"

FAHQ!! The GF just told me that her sons and their families with the damn kids are coming over on the 19th for our Xmas. That's way too much activity for me on game day.

Never thought of this dilemma having not played in a CCG before.

It was a lucky bounce but it's their fault for running a pitch play on #6's side of the field.

Or he was lucky that it was a high pitch.
The way JOK came out like a cannon, Etienne might have been done for the season if JOK gets a clean hit

My biggest concern is Trevor Lawrence running the ball. Uiagalelei didn't leave the pocket at all. Supposedly Clemson was very concerned about his non-throwing shoulder and didn't want him taking a hit so they didn't call any designed runs for him. Even though TL isn't super fast, he is very effective the 6-8 times he runs the ball per game. If the ND defense sells out to stop Etienne again, TL could hurt us with his legs.

On the plus side, I still think that Clemson defense is not as good as they normally are and I feel confident in ND being able to put up points on them. Should be another close game.

Actually DJ is supposed to be a better runner than TL...we just shut him down as well with 13 rushes for 2 yards.

I'd feel like scum if I did something like that. See what I did there??? :)

Kids being around means I'm on dog patrol as my dog loves to bite children. Maxx and I are heading upstairs come 4pm. Might as well go ahead and stock the mini-fridge now.

My concern too is that the media made SUCH a big deal about Clemson losing that I couldnt imagine Clemson not having extreme motivation to show it was just a fluke with their best players out. Honestly, I worry it wont be that close of a rematch and then we have to listen to the OSU loving media talk about how ND is overrated and doesnt deserve to be in playoff contention, etc.

Irish playing in the first ever conference championship game. Sounds like pretty good motivation right there. Tit for tat.

outside of following clemson football twitter, anybody got a good idea of some decent follows to stay up to date with Clemson before next Saturday?

Venables was absolutely awful in the game vs us. In the game tying drive, Book broke his ankles real bad on a scramble run. He has put up respectable stats as a reserve linebacker over the past two years, but with that being the only time i actually watched him play, i gotta think that hes only seeing extended field time because of daddy.

I'm legitimately concerned about ND getting jobbed by the officials because we're the "outsider" crashing the party.

Dabo's gonna have a talk with the officials anytime a flag is thrown against Clemson and explain the rules so well that the zebras pick up the flag

I feel like we haven't talk about that moment enough. It was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen happen in a college or NFL game... I have never seen a coach actually talk a ref out of a flag. Never. Had we ended up losing that game in OT, I think it would've been a much bigger moment but because we won it's "meh".

That was such an obvious BS flag pickup last game.

In the week after I thought to myself, if we had lost that game, would mainstream sports media be talking about that play. And, if so, what would the reaction be. It's was blatant and if I was ND and Kelly, I'd have sent that to the ACC and followed up on it.

The last time I remember a coach so blatantly challenging the refs and then the refs changing the game was Coach K in the 2015 NCG versus Wiscy. At halftime, he pulled the refs together, on the court, and yelled at them for a few/several minutes. For whatever reason they just stood there as if they had to listen. The refs called 13 fouls on Wiscy in the second half, to only 2 before half. Gross.

It would have been worse than the FSU pick play. Although that's the only one that came to mind. Different circumstances but the suck of it in the moment was very similar.

The FSU pick play was blatant OPI, though. CJ Prosise was straight up blocking his guy.

My recollection is that they blew the coverage and the DB jammed him grabbing a fistful of CJ's jersey.

BK always takes the wussy approach. Navy clearly was attempting to injure ND players with cheap shots and all BK said was ND needs to be tougher. No condemnation.

This bullying of the refs should have been addressed. Dabo has to taught he doesnt control the game to his benefit.

Cmon BK...no one will remember that you were the nice guy. But they will remember Ls on your watch

To be fair, I don't know that they didn't. We do know that Kelly has said in the past that they send all of those disputes post game to the ACC. So, there are probably a lot of times this happens and we just don't hear about it. I'm just hoping this is one where they raised a little bit of you know what about it.
