Abbott is taking charge here. Biden's team is trying to force the border open.

Statement from the Border Patrol Union on the situation in Eagle Pass: “Governor Abbott is not harming Border Patrol operations; he is enhancing them. His seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of getaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier.”

Pretty sad that Texas has to do the fed's job for them. Texas has been reprimanded in the past, but the fed doesn't seem to want to do their job. The sanctuary cities don't want to be sanctuary cities anymore now that the migrant buses are arriving. New York is cancelling school and housing migrants in gyms. You'd think the feds would step up the effort at the border, but my guess is they aren't for a reason.

Biden and friends know what to do. They also know that they would be admitting they we wrong which is why they aren’t doing anything.

But Boomers are the greatest generation !

We did a few good things, like becoming aware of the environment (called it ecology back then) and fought for civil rights, but we didn't do anything near as great as kicking Hitler's and Hirohito's asses.

Your post makes no sense. Plenty of conservatives are pro vaccine and PLENTY of hippy lefties that aren’t.

Plenty of conservatives being chummy with the other side.

If people like Elon have no incentive to make money you stop innovation.

If people like Kim have no incentive to make money… well you know…

Stop bitching and start an only fans or make a porn video. You don’t have money because you aren’t selling what people want.
I have plenty of money but appreciate your concern!

I’ve made it primarily doing ecological restoration, arboriculture as well as designing and overseeing the construction of public access to a variety of public lands. Many of those projects were pretty “innovative”, people seem to love them and shockingly no billionaires were involved.

I suppose what it comes down to is I don’t need so much money that I inevitably become a dickhead who is completely detached from reality surrounded by other dickheads who are also detached from reality.

Lastly, assuming innovation will evaporate without a pure profit motive is simply wrong. Most “nerds” and artists I have met and known over the years were motivated by the desire to solve a problem and or create not necessarily to become “rich”.

What about the investor-owned properties? I'm talking about the people who just finance like crazy and buy a ton of properties to push us toward the renter-dominated home market.

It’s gotten pretty bad. They’re willing to pay more than a family so they end up getting the houses and Drew and Samantha end up renting it. There’s been some movement to prevent those groups from acquiring more than a certain percentage in an area.

Sports Illustrated seems to be the prime example of "go woke, go broke" with its continued bow to the far left agenda. And the magazine's troubles seem to be multiplying. If it makes it until this August, the magazine will turn 70 years old, but right now it seems doubtful the magazine will reach that milestone.

Sports Illustrated has apparently committed suicide as the latest example of "Go woke, go broke" in the US. Today, they laid off almost their entire staff and announced to most of the remaining employees that they'll be laid off very soon. It's unclear if SI will continue to be published, but it seems very unlikely, at least for more than a few more issues. The once mighty magazine, an icon in the sports world, has shot itself in the foot over & over in recent years by parting ways with most of their talent, publishing some awfully bad AI written stories, dramatically lowering their journalistic standards, twice putting transexuals on the cover of their swimsuit issues (wow, way to really understand your audience), and shifting hard left at every turn. Sad to see such an icon of the sports world go under, but they brought it on themselves.

Magazines across the publishing spectrum are going the way of the dodo. It has nothing to do with “wokeness.” Twitter has stripped away the average American’s capacity for long form journalism on any topic or by any publisher.

Let it be. When something like this is posted here instead of where it was discussed, it’s because of insecurity. Those that see it here will get to enjoy the laughs that someone thinks it’s because of a couple covers they ran that it’s going out of business. “Honey look the VCR ain’t gunna be made no more thems gays finally killed it!”

You raise strawman arguing and misrepresenting others' thoughts and views to new levels. You are the KING.

No doubt there are plenty of other reasons they're going under than just going down the woke path (which is why I also mentioned lowering journalistic standards and publishing AI written articles), but it certainly was a big factor.Every business has to know its target market. SI publishing covers with men in bikinis showed an enormous lack of understanding of theirs.

As you mentioned, magazines and newspapers are struggling to stay afloat in a changing world. However, alienating a big part of your core audience with radical politics and an agenda that offends the sensibilities of them is bad business for anyone, regardless of your political views. It certainly has hurt ESPN also. To a great extent, sports fans want not only the players, but the sports media to just "shut up and dribble" so to speak. Sports is a refuge and escape from politics for many of us.

I am an example of people moving because of crime. I was fully intending on staying and living in New Mexico for a pretty long time. I had a few businesses and things were rolling pretty well. COVID happened and then crime just went crazy. Not only that, but we lived pretty close to the southern border and we would go out on our quads and run them through the desert but it started to get a little hairy with groups of 20 to 50 Hispanics hiding in bushes because they probably thought we were the feds.

If that's true, why travel all the way to Florida to spend it? Is it just the inflated prices, or do they live in Florida and just go to New York part time for their "job?"

They have all split town and can not be arrested because they didn't have to pay Bai.

It's a comedy of incompetence.
