So, if the Mets win, deGrom wouldn't pitch vs the Cubs until game 3. If the Dodgers win, Kershaw not until game 2 & Greinke not until game 3
Where do they get these home plate umpires from?

I've been in favor of using the K-zone technology for balls in strikes for a few years now.
We know what a strike is. We have the technology. We have stats for how often umpires get it right and how much they get it wrong. A decent game is only 90-95% accurate. That means that 1 in 10 or 20 is the incorrect call. We know that. If we know it, why rely on human error?
That's a fancentric position. It looks bad on tv but players don't care as long as it's consistent during the same game. It's the #1 most important aspect of the game... the ump establishes the zone, the pitcher reacts to that zone and then the hitters reacts to how the pitcher uses the zone the ump has set.. It's also the least understood part of the game unfortunately.
Bullsh*t ground rule double. The player should have tomato east attempt to find the ball in the Ivy. Lucky break losers

I understand the concept. But it's ridiculous. The strike zone is an established thing. The umpire isn't supposed to have his own particular zone (apologies to Eric Gregg). If we can get the call right, we should get the call right.
Ok, I'll bite. Why is a Yankee fan giving the Cubs grief for a ground rule double that's been around for 50 years...when they're playing the Mets?

I'm a Yankees fan and I know I should hate the Mets, but they are my national league team. The mets are just loveable. Plus I like to see the Cubs suffer, don't want that to ever end.

Numbers to the knees? There is no real strike zone and no ump has a set zone. They can change from day to day. It's just a part of the game that can't be dehumanized.
Ok... I'm the same way. I'm a White Sox fan first but this Cubs team.... because of Schwarber is easy for me to get behind.
I never thought this was this year but they are going to load up on starters in the off season and these kids will win a World Series. It's scientifically impossible for them not too.
It's the greatest story left to tell in sports.
Lastly... There are more ND / Cubs fans that any other ND combination so you should show your ND brothers a little love. It's not like they're Redskin or Cowboy fans.
Strangely enough, I'm a White Sox fan, but I'm actually half-rooting for the Mets. 1) because I've gotten really tired of the Cubs story being shoved down our throats. 2) because the Mets are basically the White Sox of New York. They're marred by horrible management for years, finally get a good season and still get no respect.
My family thought the same about the 94 White Sox...
