There is certainly some truth to the fact that people were being exposed on public transportation. But most of this twitter "analysis" is pure garbage.

Subway lines are built to provide transportation for where there are higher concentrations of people. Color me shocked that there are less cases where there isn't subway lines. Guess what, it means there are less people in those areas.

Certainly not a no brainer in terms of "expected-ness". But certainly generates questions as to close or not close mass transit during times like these.

Good break through this week just communicated by Boston microbiologist Robert Davey. In short, they are now able to "light up" or simply see the "invisible" covid 19 virus, which allows them to screen existing FDA approved treatments against the virus. Said it typically takes many months or years to do something like this.

You're right, I think it would be impossible (or illegal) to adopt everything South Korea did. When Trump in January was talking about banning travel from China, he got panned for it but it was obviously the correct kind of proactive move. When the Governor in Florida keeps beaches open for spring breakers from all over the country to party, that's the kind of move that adds weeks to months onto the crisis. Same with early mixed messaging from the top of the federal government in early March.

But what's clear is that the more seriously you take social distancing and other safety protocols, the more quickly you get through this. It's unfortunately clear that the *best case* scenario at this point is peak in mid-April and relaxing restrictions in May. Every day people resist taking necessary steps it becomes increasingly likely it extends past that time frame.

The push back on some of the steps would have people crying dictatorship. You're right, Trump got called out for the travel ban. The Governor of Florida chose the almighty dollar over the health of the people. My only issue with Trump is he should have probably declared a national travel ban or stay at home order instead of letting each state decide what to do. We'd be further ahead in this if that would have happened.

Wouldn't be surprised if the billion dollar company was one of the losing bidders. Then made the Newport company an offer they couldn't refuse figuring they could make that up and more in the contract.

We just laid off three in the warehouse and two in marketing. No more planned layoffs at the moment. We've had several customers call and ask that their terms be extended from 30-45 days to 90-120 days!

Heard it on the Daily a NYT brief on Spotify. They didn’t frame it like that. Sounded like they wanted no part of the gov’t deal...probably not profitable enough. It was noted they didn’t want it competing w/ their larger more expensive model already on the market. Seems like they could’ve worked something out but who knows? Sorry I didn’t remember name of the buyer but the smaller one was literally called Newport Medical or something generic like that.

decent high level on SK approach.

Makes perfect sense that SK looks to have been the most prepared. SARS is still a recent event that hit them hard if not the hardest.

SARS, MERS, and others. This isn't their first rodeo. Their testing and isolation capability were pre-existing, partnerships with the private sector strong, and some of their means are authoritarian/Orwellian to Western culture.

The only states that aren't currently projected to run out of ICU beds are:

Arkansas
California
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
Missouri
Nebraska
N. Dakota
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Vermont

Indiana is currently projected to have a surplus of 142 ICU beds at the peak which is the 5th highest of all states.

Obviously these are only projections and a lot can change in a short amount of time.

I think Indiana actually owes a debt of gratitude to the Ohio Governor. He was all over this thing. The Ohio Governor closed dine in restaurants. Indiana follows a day later. Ohio shuts down schools, Indiana follows a day or two later. Ohio issues shelter in place, Indiana follows 2 days later. Ohio was the leader in the great lakes area which led to other states following suit.

I think those projections are going to be very much blown out.
Ohio being the beacon in the Great Lakes area, beat Michigan again... LOL

We're getting off topic a little, so I won't belabor too much on this, but when it comes to the auto industry in the 70's, it was more about the unions getting as much as possible (wage and benefits) which drove car prices up. Not so much corporate profits.

Or was is bad management at the corporate level who gave in to their demands in order to keep production rolling? Several factors at play there, and this is not the forum for that.

IDK, guys/gals... My tinfoil hat Is back on. I've got questions and statements.

Still not sure if you are being serious.

Zero doubt. Did you hear the reporter ask WHO about Taiwan being dropped from their membership b/c China considered it part of their territory? The coward acted like he didn’t hear the question and then said “ask a different question”. She asked the same one again & he remained silent before ending the teleconference.

BTW, as I am not American, perhaps you guys can answer me this. How come the feds aren't requiring each state to follow the same set of rules? IE, lock down for 2 weeks only essential service etc...

The WHO's leader Adhanom has a mile long list of scandals and controversies himself, not to mention the mile long list of crap on the WHO. They are absolutely carrying water for China. Nobody cared before, but glaringly evident now and hard to ignore.

There are much better/deeper publications, but the below is an overview of both, and includes high level scandal info....

I think it's because the US is a federation. Heard the same reason it would be to entirely shut down Germany. Ultimately it is in each state's hands.

Dude, that's CBC (similar the US's MSM), and they are interviewing a Korean/Canadian expert (Tina Park) on Korean relations. She's lived in both SK and Italy.

Ok, but at the end she was In Montreal. When tanks and the National Guard starts using military measures for a virus that has less deaths over the same period of time than other viruses... at the same progression... I start to wonder why?
I'm all for the safety and health of everyone.
Every time we have had anything of this magnitude, the things that seem weird from the standpoint of truth becomes coagulated and runs deep.

Stay safe everyone.
This Is about to get very militarized. (already has in more ways and States than necessary) I'm afraid of losing our freedom to the manipulation of a virus, more than any virus itself.

You have been banging this drum for awhile now so I just have to ask. One of the key tenants of liberty is the ability to act as you so choose so long as you don't infringe on the liberty of others. Well, in a world where carriers of a virus will not know they are a carriers, how can we say that their "free" movement isn't infringing on the health and liberty of others?

NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve..) are not dangerous to your health. I'd say insider trading and acetaminophen (Tylenol) people used their ways to put false information out here to start a stock cheat. (Insider Trading)
The things that are going to be uncovered about the real understanding of this thing should finally show people that the rich get richer because of inside information.

Not sure how the vid is related to militarizing things, but OK. SK is using Orwellian tracking means, but they're not marching people into camps or anything...

As far as here in the US, I'd be perfectly fine if they parked a National Guard truck or tank at the end of my block, or end of my mom's. Might stimulate people to:

I definitely see what your saying. Dumb ass people will always incumbour our personal lives, whether It be by robbery, cheating, stealing, killing, false rumors, Killing..... We will never stop the madness.
IMHO, there will not be a miracle that stops the madness, and when we sit back and don't speak up about our future and the future of the young. We are just allowing ourselves to be baited like a fish in water.
Life Is very hard, Life Is very complicated, and when we allow a few to direct the many we lose. The politicians (corporations) are just like us and they will feel vindicated with everything we sit down for. Power begets more power.
We should stay the course but let's not think our interests are their interests.

Asymptomatic people are what everyone worries about. It's your neighbor you should worry more about... (they'll screw ya quicker than a virus)

Wake Up, Pay Attention to something other than our conceded selves!!

If that phrase that you said isn't alarming... I might as well just go tell my 3 year old to prepare for the end of democracy. Over the same time period the Flu does kill more, but this whole idea of "easily infected" scares everyone.
IDK. lets just give China, and Russia our SS# and give up....

How about a nation wide scare on obesity and being a LAZY asshole. Do something other than run the lips and stare at your phone and you'll lose most of the pre-existing conditions that cause epidemics like these. (don't eat any bats either.)

Let's stop the stupid shit OK. And what you're spouting is some really fucking dumb shit.

My mom gets Covid19 right now, she's dead......, no ifs, ands, butts, about it.
She isn't dying from the flu (she gets her shot yearly), she isn't dying from obesity, etc..

This isn't the same. Not sure how to make you understand given it's already punch you in the face obvious. The flu kills many, but it's a very different virus in a lot of ways... And there are no vaccines for Covid, while there are for the flu... Obesity is another sad thing, but there are treatments, and most importantly choices....

I'm not for the change we will allow to happen in order to save a few people people that are already on the way out. ( I don't know your situation and I can only hope with all my heart your mother is going to be well and loved by more now then before.)

Before It really took hold here in the USA, the mantra was pre-existing conditions, and within two weeks we hear of people dying without any test given and It's automatically the covid 19.

People die every day of every month, year, hour. Now every death is correlated to Covid-19....?

I'll pray for everyone's health and well being. I don't speak without prior deep thought out conversations.

Yeah, people aren't taking this seriously enough and I can PROMISE you that they are planning how and when to use the Guard (and more) how to lock down borders, airports and state borders.

You guys don't know what I do or the folks I work with but I've been 24 hours ahead of Newsom shutting down the bars in CA and Ducey placing the first level Stay at Home on us here in AZ.

If this blows thru the projections of 2700 deaths per day on April 15th and the curve isn't peaking... shit will get REAL locked down in many places.

Just watch for AZ shuttingdown the border with CA. There's not many bridges that go over the Colorado. They could do it with 100 Guardsman at I-8, I-10 & I-40.

Stay home.

Yet, there is a justice system set in place to take the liberty away from those who do the things you listed. Frankly, I think staying at home and complying is doing exactly what you suggested...thinking of others. Complying with stay home orders is more about those who are statistically more vulnerable than I am and how I could be, even with the best intentions to not be, the one who passes a death sentence to someone else. Yea, I don't want to be that guy.

I'll try a last time....

You don't keep people home... You'll increase the spread...

You increase the spread....... You'll completely crash the hospital systems (many are close to that point now)......

You overload the hospital..... people with all sorts of conditions don't get treatment...
That means a shit ton dead and dying... And not only the people already on their way out.... Not to mention the infections of HC providers....

If this disease were impacting only young children, you'd think of your kids, and be singing a very different tune.

I generally try to be accepting of your off the wall shit, but it's past borderline idiotic right now.

I am compromised with my opinion because i am currently in the Oil and Gas Industry. I can do many things within the construction industry but this is where I'm at atm.
If the Oil and Gas Industry of hundreds of thousands of young healthy people are capable of fixing the pipeline industry is essential than I can't think of anything other than priorities by our governed-ment.
Why are we Essential? I love the work and payday but are we essential? To who????

To very wealthy corporations that are good at getting elected officials to look out for their bottom line. But "this pandemic must not be very serious" does not necessarily follow from "obviously nonessential industries are still being allowed to operate". "Most of our politicians are some combination of incompetent and unethical" does though.
