A Lot of people keep saying masks will stop a virus. I'm curious why If a mask can stop microbes from entering the body all the while, fast food restaurants keep throwing my food in a bag without gloves.

Fast food is worse for our health as a public than any virus that exists today. Yet, my economic situation forces me to be unhealthy.

Money Is the dirtiest thing on earth and we all still say turn the cheek on that absurdity.

We are being railroaded into submission. Trolls!

Got tested this morning out of an abundance of caution as I am vacationing with my family next week. Super smooth, easy process. Drive right up to CVS, they give you the swab, do it yourself, drop it off. Anyone here can get tested symptomatic or not.

What do I read online the second I get home? That they are likely to change the guidelines on the testing process soon: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/26/politics/anthony-fauci-testing-coronavirus-task-force/index.html

The banks aren't making enough money yet.
They need another bailout.
Don't ya know? We are mice and the pharmaceutical companies will always win.

BTW. The WW3 thread should be reevaluated. It was on point. Snowflakes aside.

Update to the rules:

Attend loved one’s funeral: “you’re killing grandma!”

Celebrate a family member’s once in a lifetime milestone: “shame on you, we are in a pandemic”

Accompany your dying spouse to her chemo visits: “sorry, rules are rules”

Riot & pillage the streets & businesses in major cities: crickets

Start you own neo-Marxist utopia by occupying a public park: crickets

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">LIVE: Aerial footage shows massive crowds rallying to celebrate <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Pride?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Pride</a> in Chicago <a href="https://t.co/06GbKtqP8l">pic.twitter.com/06GbKtqP8l</a></p>— Bloomberg QuickTake (@QuickTake) <a href="https://twitter.com/QuickTake/status/1277297233092894723?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 28, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> : crickets

Whatever happened to the real Chicago that used to be cool?

The wife and I just got our results today. Both negative. She swore she had it back in late March early April. She did have some signs, but I thought it was more to do with allergies and her asthma.

First, don't eat the bag. Second, it's summer, grown a garden. Eat healthy.

A couple of researchers feel that smoking marijuana may help prevent the novel coronavirus' entry points by up to 70% - but a particular strain high in CBD may become a safe addition to the treatment of COVID-19 as an adjunct therapy. Large scale studies are needed. Funding for mass production may not be a problem as there is a lot of industry money that is looking for investments.

This was a really good move by the Trump administration. You can tell it was a good move, because other countries are mad and basically complaining that their leaders didn't do it first. Even if the drug turns out to have poor efficacy, these are the kind of proactive actions you need to be taking in the hope that they work. It's clear we're not getting back to "normal" until a viable vaccine or treatment is widely available, and this drug is the first one that has a chance to be the latter.

We generally export pork to China rather than the other way around and these things don't get transferred though the meat.

What most will forget in their excitement about a vaccine even if deemed safe & efficacious by the FDA is that it’s not going to prevent every strain of COVID-19. Just like the flu virus doesn’t prevent every strain of the flu. There...I compared it to the flu...put me in jail.

Yup. But I'm sure we'll hear a negative spin regardless.

It is a US company after all.

I mean, hell, China bought up all kinds of stuff on the low while the WHO was down playing the disease. And then even charged some countries to give back the same supplies that were donated to them.

Gilead is rumored to be partnering with another company via buyout. Just rumors but they are a huge takeover target right now.

Re: Remdesivir, those 500,000 treatments is 100 per cent of Gilead’s July production capacity and 90 per cent of its capacity in August and September.

But remember, Remdesivir is a intravenous treatment primarily for hospitalized patients. so the U.S. won´t be needing more than those 500,000 treatments for quite a while, hopefully.

By the end of December, Gilead expects to have an additional 1.5 million treatments available for other countries (that´s three times the U.S. amount).

And that is just it´s own production. Gilead has already moved ahead with partners or licencees in developed countries which will be to market soon

And for lesser developed countries, Gilead has (very generously) signed non-exclusive* royalty-free licensing agreements with nine generic pharmaceutical manufacturers based in Egypt, India and Pakistan, with a right to receive a technology transfer of the Gilead manufacturing process. Those companies have already started the process to manufacture needed supplies for 127 lesser-developed countries, and is seeking more licensees (since Remdesivir is administered intravenously, production requires sterile drug product manufacturing capabilities, which limits the number of organizations capable of manufacturing the medicine).

And though it still, it takes six to eight months to get a treatment to market. I would expect to see the amount of available treatments surge in the short-term

Actually, the Chinese and Japanese and maybe even entities from other asian countries own several pork processing plants in the states. They tend to export the cuts they prefer and use the other here.

In Germany, a study Robert Koch Institute puts Germany's R-number at 2.88. In May, Germany's R-number had fallen to 0.75. Chancellor Angela Merkel has repeatedly said that Germany needs to keep the number below 1 if the country is to successfully combat the virus. The R value is the reproductive rate of the virus, meaning how many other patients a COVID patient infects.

In a study by New Orleans-based Ochsner Health was done in May. , 75% were asymptomatic.

Delaware has closed the bar part of restaurants again starting today at 5pm . They had some issues with the younger 20’s and the claim they were partying to much. But the dumb ass governor is still playing on having the states largest fair. As much money as that brings in it is clear that it’s a financial decision. They even have to wear mask on the beach unless they get in the water and the down town area.

In Arizona, Nearly 1 In 4 Coronavirus Tests Now Comes Back Positive
July 2, 2020

Excerpts:

Arizona was quick to relax restrictions on businesses and reopen its economy, beginning in early May. Most new cases have come in just the past month. Maricopa County, with its Phoenix metro area, now ranks as one of the top five U.S. counties for total cases.
In Arizona, the portion of tests coming back positive hovers around 24%, more than three times the national average. Texas and Florida, where cases are also rising rapidly, have positivity rates of 14% and 16%, respectively.

"There's a huge reservoir of individuals who are infected and have the ability to transmit that infection," Gerald said.

Younger adults are driving much of Arizona's outbreak, with many cases popping up among people in their 20s and 30s, an age group that is more likely to show mild symptoms or be asymptomatic.

That makes tracking cases even more difficult, but Gerald says it may also save Arizona's hospitals from being as overwhelmed as those in a place like New York City.

The most serious shortage is of healthcare workers to care for hospitalized patients.

Go back to Michigan!

???

There's far more of these guys in AZ than in MI. In MI you have a large % that are still under union control and have to pretend to be a democrat in public.

Next to none of that here in AZ.
