Kind of a shame that TP gave us an awesome rundown of what he has seen and heard, and all that is happening is people talking about Lynch...

Tee maybe. Aaron, no. If you're not in good academic standing then it affects your graduation rate. I don't know how bad Tee's academic standing was... but he also withdrew without ever finishing a semester... so I don't think he'd necessarily even have official grades. I just don't really have any idea.

would just be another slap in the face if it did affect us lol.. not only did he bail in the middle of a semester, he would detract from a very well deserved, respected and truly remarkable stat that most schools (none?) could boast about.. I'm interested to know as well now that it was brought up lol

8. Jarron Jones can easily pack on 30lbs and be an athlete. I don’t think he plays at all this year unless we have injuries. It was good to meet him and he is a great kid. Type of kid you want at ND. Def can tell he is hungry.

Any inside into what weight the staff wants him at?

Nope, but def a DE. Can swing down inside for Nickel/Dime sets. Be interesting to see if they want to swing him towards a pass rusher or run stopper. Kid has the build to be either. Very long. Looks like a SF in basketball, thats how fit he looks right now.

Yeah agreed I know he was 300 during the season but dropped a bunch during basketball and even at 300 looks very lean.

I swear I think some of you would spend half your day talking to your girlfriend about your ex girlfriend.. He's no longer a member of the team. He is irrelevant, as is discussing him.

most of the conversation was about replacing him and his impact, which IMO is fair game.. mostly agree with your sentiment though, although I've probably been guilty of talking about him

EDIT: well, it started off being about replacing him lol at least it should have continued in that direction haha, kinda got off track

My thoughts...

- Golson will still emerge. He is just such a talent.
- We have enough quality players on the OLine that whatever results is fine. Everyone always agreed that Nichols is a giant, but I don't remember hearing that he was the next great thing. I wonder if Hegarty can emerge in the fall?
- Still think Wood/Riddick will be very good, not just good. Sounds like we are hearing that.
- GAIII is a legit talent but seems to need time to become football players, rather than athletes.
- I think T.J Jones and Toma will be our most productive WRs this year along with the RBs.
- Not confident that Goodman or D. Smith have what it takes to go over the top of a defense and make a hard catch. The talent is there, but you seem to need a certain level of swagger to do that.
- D. Daniels may have it, Neal may as well.
- TEs will be key, obviously. I think all 4 play well.

- Collinsworth is going to be good, but he will make some big mistakes; hopefully Motta grows up. Slaughter will need to be very consistent and stay healthy.
- We may need slaughter to play CB if no one else steps up. I just don't see us covering USC with Jackson and (other).
- Lynch is GIGANTIC loss, but I still LOVE the starting lineup; KLM, Nix, and Tuitt are an ideal 3-4 line, and Hounshell, Shwenke, Day (and maybe Springman and Jones) is good depth. We still have an excellent line.
- I don't like the CAT position. I think its asking a lot of a kid to drop back and play in space. I hope they treat Williams more like a WDE. Shembo and Rabassa too.
- I think they are realizing that they need someone really fast at DOG and smaller and faster is better than bigger and slower. Spond and Councell seem like much better options than Shembo, I wonder if Baratti ends up there.
- I like the options at MLB. I wish they could find a way to get Moore and Grace on the field. Fox and Carlo both have their strengths, and could develop.

Overall I think we will be very solid, except at CB. This year will depend a lot on how well our opponents can pass and defend the run.

Just got home, and I gotta chime in on the Lynch discussion. I gotta agree w/ CADomer and Dillon on this one - there sounds like a lot of sour grapes on this thread from my point of view. No one was saying this stuff before about Lynch; none of the info is new to anyone who has followed it (he plays w/ reckless abandon, not very coachable, not happy here), but everyone was talking about how insanely good he was. NOW he has all the problems and we're better off without him? Sorry, not buying it.

Lots of great defensive players play outside the system and play on instincts. Sh!t, Manti Te'o plays like that a lot of the time. So losing him SUCKS big time, and hurts the program on the field, no doubt about it. He is a once in a decade-type talent (or once in a generation even, the way he was trending).

HAVING SAID THAT, I also agree that in the end, it could be addition by subtraction. If we was that much of a cancer, that much of a leech (in the sense that he sucked the life out of practice and meetings), that much of a problem, both parties might be better off. But we won't know that until the fall.

It's good for you that you get to talk to the players, but that doesn't mean much to me. I would be surprised if any player gave you anything but a positive point of view. That's the way players are suppose to think.

Then you must not have talked to many players in your day. I've found players to be very candid once you get to know them. They'll talk sh!t about coaches and their fellow players in a heartbeat. They'll say if a guy sucks or if the team is in trouble. Not all players, of course, but a lot of them will.

So while it doesn't mean much to you, it does to me, that's for sure...

I have found that to NOT be the case. I've talked to almost every ND football player since 1993 and been friends with more than a few. They rarely bad-mouth a teammate unless it's a personal thing..and even then, it's VERY VERY rare.

Well, turns out CADomer is another 2 posters - one of them being "Coach Urban Meyer". There's a reason he's contradictory on every single thread - he's a troll...

Well, it must be an Indiana thing then. Guys I've talked to out here have been pretty damn candid.

And you yourself said you talked to 14 guys that talked sh!t about Lynch (where is that post you promised by the way?)

Never said the players all talked trash, tho a couple did...I have 10 comments i saved. 3 from players, 2 from coaches, 1 from faculty, 1 from media peeps and 3 students.

I didn't post them because i figure you'd ban me again based on your message to me.

LOL...no, but nice try. You were banned b/c, despite repeated warnings and post deletions, you continued to get personal when continually ripping coaches, players, and recruits. Do you not remember calling a certain recruit an azz-clown (among many, many other names)? Do not not remember telling BK to eff off? I could go on, but you get the point. The admin has said many times not to get personal when talking about players and recruits, but to no avail.

And anyway, how does you telling us about a player anonymously calling a former player out make you think you'll get banned??? It's nowhere close to what you were doing. I don't get it...you said you were going to tell us all these people who you said talked on the Lynch saga, and instead we get nothing, and for a weird reason at that. Whatever...you have your reasons, so it's fine...

Ya...i remember both. Was pissed at Kelly for his boneheaded playcalling and you see that recruit is not at ND.

As for not posting the comments. AL isn't worth the time and you seem to have a short leash with me. IE iseasier to read when i'm not banned and not have to go through a mirror site.

I actually had a very long leash with you. I gave you several chances, several warnings, deleted posts before others could see them , including our own admin, but to no avail. You wanted to do whatever you wanted to do. And you said all 14 players you talked to wanted Lynch gone, and got everyone excited when you said you'd have more later. Hell, I even repped you for it LOL. And even though I told you it was fine, you're still mum on it. But again, it's your decision and you don't think Lynch is worth your time and I respect it.

As for the recruit not being at ND...we had no idea what was going to happen with him until after NSD. We've offered several players late who we've gotten commitments from, we've had several players commit to other schools who later have flipped to us. You're not privy to what coaches think, so ripping recruits, no matter how much you personally hate, isn't going to fly around here.

I highly doubt you would be banned for posting information.

I for one am deeply upset about Lynch transferring. He was my favorite player on defense and I felt he would have a very successful career at ND and beyond. That being said, my aunt lives in South Bend and is tight with several players and staff members over at ND. She said the information she has received is that many of the players are actually relieved that he transferred because he was very much about himself, not the team, he had a bad attitude and the coaches bent over backwards for him. That kind of behavior can be toxic to a team, especially one that is supposedly as tight-knit as this one. It sucks that we won't get to see him attempt to kill opposing QBs each week for us but that's the way it is and I'm still pretty excited about the guys we have on the DL. Not sure if anyone has Lynch's ability but we have many guys that will be solid, productive players for ND. Of all the positions on the field, this is the one that I feel we can afford to lose 1 great talent because of the talented depth we have there. Losing Tee Shepard was a big kick in the balls due to the lack of depth and lack of talented depth.

This whisper game started with great reporting of current players and what potential/possibilities there are, not were/could have/should haveand ends with Tee Shepard? There are other threads for de-commits (unless your favorite players of 85 guys only played his freshman year and the other never a game) Staying on topic lately has been like herding cats. He's gone, they're gone, and like you're ex-never coming back. Time to go forward.

Maybe I'm just irritable.

Well, regarding current players-rather a current player. Despite the pre-spring season hype of Davaris Daniels and his pro-type numbers, I still have not heard anything positive related to his actions on the field. The only thing I have heard is from Kelly, using his consistency speech with him.

Hope he shows up in the summer with some consistency. Despite our TE depth and the speed freaks coming out of the backfield/slot (Wood, Riddick, and I can't wait to see what that ex-USC kid can do), we need Davaris to step it up-I'd like to see those numbers turn into production!

Hear anything on DD ---> TP? BB?
