I'll have a 1911A1 someday. And I know something you roll into with that 30-30. It rhymes with Mary Mandusky.

I would never. Much better that the rule of law is up held. If and when found guilty by a jury of his peers, better to be locked up in a cell with a 300 pound man that also happens to be into old wrinkly former football coaches while said man is told enjoy your new cell mate due to budget cut backs we'll only have the man power to come around once a week at 3 AM Monday mornings. Also here is your new soap I don't know why it looks like astro glide.

You're a better man than I. Kid rape doesn't fly in my book.

But why should he get out of it so easily with a quick death. From what I understand a perforated colon is so much more painful.
Either that or give the kiddie rapist to the parents while also giving the parents a chainsaw, a blow torch, and 3 gallons of blood.

Now that last idea is something I can support.

My FNP .45 tactical with laser sight and suppessor.

And "The Judge".

I have The Judge...

I had the unpleasant experience of coming face to face with a cougar...and a couple instances where I got too close to a badger...decided I liked the challenge of shooting deer with the bow...not so much for Sh1t that wants to eat me back...Sooo the judge is part of my gear now...GREAT gun. Even if you miss, stuff runs away anyway...hehehe

Tell me more about this "cougar encounter"...

She was lean, predatory. The C.E.O of a chain of adult novetly shops. You don't find that often in Utah. She was used to a muzzle loader and hoping for a Barrett. phgreek whipped out his Judge. Her driver gave phgreek her funny business card as they walked away. It was good for month's worth of male enhancement. The kind that works after you leave the range.

The FBI minimum benchmark for self-defense ammo is 12'' of penetration, because of the need to reach the central nervous system from oblique angles, after penetrating intermediate barriers, etc. Even with a best-case-scenario full frontal shot, a projectile needs to penetrate at least 7''-8'' inches to reach vital organs. 4''-5'' is grossly inadequate penetration for a self-defense round.

Poor accuracy is also a deal breaker. In life and death situations, trigger discipline goes to hell. Cops, who train a lot more than the average civilian, only hit with ~30% of their shots on the street. There's no reason to trust your life to an inaccurate firearm.

Do you think the .45 acp black talons in my night stand gun will get proper penetration?

Whiskey, great info! One question though, what round was the judge firing in this test? 45 long colt, or 410 and what size shot? I would agree with 4-5" with 410 bird shot because when I was a kid a 410 was about only good for rabbits or pigeons....my point being in 45 long colt, 410 slug and even buck shot the penitration would be a little better. I am not defending the judge, I personaly would never own one, just wondering.

Holy cow..Yea, what he said...

...you know how after you write something you just know someone will take it somewhere else...never had that thought. Does that mean I'm ready for elastic waistband pants and comfortable shoes...Man I'm old, and out of it!

I do a lot of traveling to Portland (OR), for my job-- well when I am out there I go to a place called Threat Dynamics. Basic premise is that you have a gun that acts and kicks like live ammo would (believe it is loaded with a Co2 cartridge), so you walk into a simulation area with screens all around you (300 degrees)...then based on different "events" such as a pyscho person shooting is a school...you have to make split second decisions on fried vs fo....while you wear a belt that will shock the Hell out of you if the bad guy shoots you. And at the end will be grades on your decision making.

Check out the web site below. Figured you guys would enjoy checking this out.

Here is their Web Site.

Here's the penetration test I referred to. I wasn't able to find anything more formal (ballistic gelatin, etc.), but Box O' Truth is generally reliable. He was testing .410 shot out of a standard Judge, which only has 3(!) pellets per case. I believe there's a magnum Judge that can fit 3'' shells, which offers 2 more pellets per shell.

The .45 obviously had no trouble penetrating. The Judge's problem there is with accuracy. The shallow rifling in the barrel necessary to make it "work" with both shells and bullets means accuracy goes to hell at anything but extremely close range.

I apologize if I gave offense to anyone who owns a Judge. There's just a lot of snake oil out there when it comes to self-defense products. It can work well a a varmint gun, but I'd never trust my life to it.

M'eh, I just thought the Judge was fun to shoot. And I know for a fact it is a great snake killer.

I'll depend on my 9mm if anyone breaks into my house.

I didn't have the honor of serving in the military. Clubbed feet kept me out. Still pisses me off, but what can you do? I would still love to fire some of those weapons, though.

Worth investing in a Sig 226 .40?

Sigs are awesome firearms! The P220 I have is an oldie (stamped made in W. Germany) but the old ones are extremly accurate and made extremely well. The Sig is my favorite pistol along with my Wilson 1911. The nice thing about the 40 is the reduced recoil to a 45, but I'm 6'6 310lbs so the recoild doesnt bother me!

Not the coolest but it does have sentimental value. 12 Gauge Nitro Hunter bought new by my Great Grandfather from a Sears and Roebuck catalog for $6.38. I have it now along with the original receipt. Unfortunately not worth much but it is neat to have a part of family history.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this one, but I have a question for all y'all shotgun owners. I'm looking to get my first shotgun (the one I have was my grandfathers 16 gauge. Great gun, not very functional) and am not able to make up my mind. I want a 12 gauge and not too expensive. I might be willing to go up the price of the Benelli Supernova. I was set on getting the 870 express, but I have been hearing that Remington's quality is crap on their newer 870s. What I'm asking is if anyone has first hand experience with the build quality of the new 870 Expresses (not the Wingmaster).

Question 2, if it is recommended to not get the 870, is the differences between the Benelli Nova and Supernova. I know about the stock differences and what not, but what I really want is the ability to mount sights, maybe a scope in order to use the gun as a deer gun as well. Is that possible on either? (I would add a rifled choke as opposed to getting a rifled barrel.)

Any insight and advice is very welcome. Thanks in advance.

I would have no problem buying a 870 especially given the bad press as of late. Part of the issue is the anti gun crowd getting hot and bothered and the other issue is careless gun owners. If people do not respect the rules of handling and gun ownership they should not own them, because they are a danger to themselves and others. Remington has been making the 870 for 60 years. I have owned one in the past and I would not hesitate to own one again.

The 870 is a good shotgun. What are you planning on using the shotgun for? Bird, Slug, home defense?
I have used and actually looking to purchase a 870 slug gun for deer up north and hogs down here. Now home defense the Mossberg 500 and 595 are nice and I believe both are Mil-spec. 870 all around is nicer than the 500/595 but strictly for home defense the mossberg is nice and pretty reasonable.

Total boner when firing as well. Thunk Thunk Thunk Thunk...Boom Boom Boom Boom! It is a whole lot of fun, I won't deny it. If you get the chance, grab it.

I think you are firing it wrong.

I have a 1903 Colt Commander that my Granfather, Wild Bill, bought brand new. Just Wild Bill to me. Two owners, 104 years.

Lot's of you seem to like the BAR. Here is a trivia question. What historical figure so perferred that weapon, that they would use that to the exclusion of every other weapon, except a hand gun or two, tucked in just in case.
