To be fair to Kiffin- Did he put this deadline and push to resolve this in place or did Ole Miss? He could have sat on his cards until they lost the CFP and then announced. He was pushed into the moment and it blew up in Ole Miss' face.
Well, they had to know before the portal opened and signing day and stuff where they stood. I agree that OM has their share of blame, but there's no right answer when you're dealing with someone like Kiffin. Al Davis was right about him all those years ago and Lane has never changed.

Getting rid of the early signing day wouldn't solve all of the problems, but it would be a good start.

Brian Kelly 2.0
Agreed on the overhyped angle. He couldn't get it done at USC, why does anyone think he can at LSU? The jobs aren't that different, especially and if anything, he had an easier job at Southern Cal with the foundation Carroll built. Yet he managed a 1-3 record there against Brian Kelly, and improved to 2-2 at Ole Miss, so maybe he's getting better.

And let’s be real, with a defense that made UGAs offense look like 2019 LSU and a talent composite ranking in the 20s, does anyone really think OM is a top 12 team in the country without Kiffin, Weis Jr (the actual playcaller on offense) probably more of their coaching staff and potentially some of their players as well?
No. Look at their schedule. It fell just right for a run that would hide their deficiencies enough to get where they are today. Same goes for aTm. Both hit the jackpot in SEC scheduling. Bama, UGA & OU had the tougher row to hoe. This isn’t unique to SEC. With conferences ballooning to almost 20 members, there’s going to be teams that get dealt a tough hand & others that get a cakewalk. Lane & Elko got cakewalks and both cashed in accordingly. Not saying they’re bad teams but go back & look at their schedule.

What Kiffin did to Ole Miss is unreal though. You take years building towards something special and you bolt for LSU right before the special run. I get LSU this and Florida that....but damn. Some people are just shitty and I hope he never finds the success at LSU that he found at Ole Miss. I think BK found out Chase, Burrow and Jefferson don't walk through the door very often. If I was gonna be a dirtball, I'd have went to Florida.

The lane fuckhead situation is so shitty for the team. Teams should structure these contracts so they can clawback comp for the year if a coach takes a job before the last game of the season, including bowls.

It sucks but $100 mil is $100 mil.

Absurd that a state school in one of the poorest states in the country is throwing this type of money at coach after coach.

Call me crazy but the days of LSU being a top 5 job are long gone. With the new landscape who's to say Vandy (so to speak relax) isn't a better landing spot. This isn't 2010, it's all a little more even and places willing to spend the money like Texas Tech may all the sudden be tougher to go through than 15 years ago. BK and Kiffin are going to be prime examples. I'll bet after 3+ years...BK and LK have very similar winning %

Honestly, don't expect anything less. Especially from Kiffin. Look what he did to TN in the middle of the night. He is literally doing the same thing to Ole Miss but in broad daylight... I expect some of the players to follow him and piss off some of the LSU players vying for starting spots next year.

I don't think USC was an easier job. I mean I guess playing in the PAC but the scholarship cuts/lmits had to be hard to deal with at the time

I agreed, but Ole Miss was willing to pay him too.

The main problem I see is we are comparing apples to oranges when talking about these destination jobs of the last 30 years. Was LSU a top job over the last 30 years....Yes. Will they be over the next 30 years...who knows. It's apples to oranges. I could see the top jobs over the next 30 years include places like Texas Tech and Oregon. Again, EVVVVVERRRYRHING is different in 2025 than it was in 2005

I don’t get the decision if the they legitimately matched the offer. It’s not like Ole Miss was Tulane, if he’s actually a $100 million coach there’s no reason he couldn’t have turned the program into a consistent national power (I guess I’ve seen rumors about having less NIL money?) and if he succeeded there would be golden statues of him getting felated all over campus.
