You have a higher view of humanity than I do. There were people on this forum calling for Freeman’s head after the Aggies game.
How many and in what thread? Would not surprise me in the game day thread. I avoid the game day threads as it is over the top venting, much of it having no basis in reality. Not sure how much of a factor alcohol plays.

If there are any outside of that thread, I’d love to have a few links. I’d be surprised if anyone was truly calling for his head, just irrational venting in the heat of the moment.

Again, I agree with your overall observation that once people get accustomed to winning, their expectations increase and will eventually lead to a firing. IU fans are not far along in that “life cycle” yet if there is a decline next year.

I think the traditional tiers of jobs has changed substantially now that everyone’s allowed to pay players. The commitment to buying assets is going to make things very interesting.

I agree. Conference realignment and The Portal have changed everything in addition to NIL. I forget it often myself when having these discussions. The SEC has not been a factor in the championship game for two years in a row. That's not happenstance.

And recruiting high school players isn't the end all be all it was the the era previous.

I don't know what Cignetti will or won't do, and I don't really care if I'm being honest, but IU hoops has been down a while and they've seen what a good football season and a half can do for revenue. They might be willing to pump money into this thing and keep him around because all bets are off at the moment. He's basically it for that program. Past, present and future.

NEW: Irish Envy poster @arndtjc plans to take a couple of big swings during the dating process. One name that he may make a run at is Hollywood's Ana de Armas, sources tell @PeteNakos_ 👀
Based upon the twitter responses, you appear to be a loser who doesn't keep his word. Yeah, I'm sure you meant that you were going to delete your "Peacock" account. SMH

Let’s replace the coach who can’t win the big game with a coach who is 2-23 against the Top 25. Makes perfect sense.
What's impresssive is the two wins came at Temple. What's not is the failure to beat a single ranked team in 5.5 seasons at Baylor/Nebraska.

In fairness the Baylor and Nebraska situations he took over were complete messes

He would step into the best situation and roster he’s ever had if he takes the PSU job plus the schedule next year has no Oregon or Ohio State and should be pretty easy to navigate 10/11 wins to get it off the ground

He’s also a pretty good relationship guy for recruiting. Kids and families love him and playing for him, would be a problem for our PA/Jersey pipeline imo

Selfishly I just want to see the Nebraska fanbase squirm for the next 2+ months as this shakes out

Then you should call him out. Seems like you would have a bunch of mad people that would love your tweet almost immediately.

I know Baylor had a major scandal that got Briles fired two years prior. I don't recall much else. However, this isn't a great look.

Everyone jumped ship. Rhule had to start from scratch. He then proceeded to win 18 games the next 2 years before heading to Carolina

He’s already won 4 more games in 3 years in Lincoln than Frost won in 4+

That 2016 Baylor team started 6-0 and finished 6-6. They won their bowl game to finish 7-6.

Seven members of the 2016 recruiting class requested to be released from their National Letter of Intent, and six of the then-seven commits in the 2017 recruiting class decommitted.

Maybe it wasn't good look, but when you put it into deeper context, it was a fucking mess. Maybe someone could have done better, but that situation was pretty dire. Then he turned it around to 7-6 and 11-3 which he parlayed into an NFL job. He walked into a shit show and came out in the NFL. That's saying quite a bit.

Then he follows Scott Frost at Nebraska in addition to following Briles and scandal at Baylor? In addition to being an alum, I am starting to see why PSU fans have him at the top of their list. He's also 14 years younger than Cignetti.

Think I’d go:

1 UF
2 PSU
3 and 4 FSU and Auburn tied
5 Wisconsin (great resources)
6 UNC (great resources)
7 VT (haven’t shown investment Wisky and UNC have)
8 Arkansas (impossible job in the current SEC)
9 UCLA (high upside but big hole to dig out of)
UCLA over Arkansas, I think. Maybe UNC over Wisconsin too.

I don’t get the Rhule hate. He’s a good college coach and a proven program builder. The question is if he’s the guy to get an already-built Penn State over the hump from good to elite. Not clear that he is.
I don't recall seeing any hate here or elsewhere for Rhule. He's just seems to be the single coach on the planet most comparable to James Franklin, and between the two, Franklin arguably has the better resume. Maybe Penn State could save some time by just handing Rhule $49 million and asking him to stay at Nebraska.

Kelly, Franklin, and Rhule are all the same type of coach: program builders. Guys you bring in to clean up and rebuild a program and help make winning a habit. They’re not really guys who bring your program over the top though.

No hate on Rhule but honestly he seems like a step down from Jimmy and BK because they have at least demonstrated the ability to keep a program at a relatively high level for a sustained period. Rhule hasn’t stuck around anywhere.

I'd rate Kelly's resume far more impressive and face far more punchable.
Than Franklin’s? Sure BK has actually made the playoffs/title game a few times. Benefitted, frankly, from not sharing a division with Ohio State.

But the point is he and Franklin both took faded powers back to relevance yet couldn’t quite get them over the hump. Rhule is also a program builder but hasn’t quite gotten that far yet.

Either way I think we agree if Penn State really wants to win a title they probably need to aim higher in their search. Like Notre Dame did when they didn’t settle for Fickell.

That’s just it, he is a good coach not above average or great.

I think he would be better for the Florida job. His offense can score some points. The athletes he could recruit in Florida and get to transfer there.
