What would be the reason for Knowles leaving arguably the best situation for a DC in CFB to go to a program where the head coach is likely on the hot seat? Other than four years as DC at OU’s in-state rival, I see no connection to OU. Gotta be the money but also gotta think OSU would match or raise whatever OU offered. He currently makes just under $2M.
The article says $3m is the rumored offer

He must not have liked working for Day - right?

There is a rumor that he just got engaged to a woman from Oklahoma and that she doesn't want to leave the area.

I wouldn’t say it’s a rumor. Local radio has mentioned he has a wife or girlfriend (maybe both?) here in OK.

Jerry Jones promotes Schottenheimer to HC! He must have been getting turned down left and right. In hindsight, Sanders was probably not going to get the job even if he wanted it. If Jones had hired Sanders, the focus would have shifted from him to Sanders and I'm not sure Jones could handle that.

At this rate, Thomas Hammock’s eulogy & tombstone will reference that he led NIU in a win over Notre Dame in 2024. Not saying that’s good or bad for him but he’s tracking to be the Buster Douglas of CFB

It really is kind of sad, considering he won a MAC Championship in 2021 in year three of his tenure as a first time HC. The year after the Covid season at that.

I also question the trajectory of going from G5 head coach to NFL RB coach. That's ultimately up to him but it feels like a step back in terms of trajectory, though I'm sure the money will be better.
